President Elect Trump now has all the Legislative Firepower (and most likely Judicial Firepower) any U.S. President can possibly ask for.
Fix it if it’s broken.
No damn excuses.

First, let’s define a quantifiable criterion. What does “wiping out ISIS” entail? Trump with a Bush-like banner reading “mission accomplished” isn’t “destroying ISIS”.
I guess you mean by “destroying ISIS” that no sunni groups control any part Syria? You know, you’ve still got rebranded Al-Qaeda in Syria (JaN or JaF more recently) and the distinctions between sunni extremists groups are very blurry. If ISIS footsoldiers started calling themselves Jaish al Fateh (JaF) would you consider that “destroying ISIS”?
That means Iranians control the desert Syria and the “useful Syria” around the coast and their “shia lite” Alawite minions. So that’s your target? What about the Turks? Many ISIS groups have been quietly integrated into Turkish backed SDF… Also, YPG changed it’s name in Northern Syria into SDF, SDF-MMC and AKPU to cover up their tacit cooperation with Assad in some places.
Sounds confusing? Well, guess what - it is! Especially for someone who skips his intelligence briefings and delegates this problem to his son.
Removing ISIS means thwarting salafi islam and toppling the House of Saud in Saudi Arabia and the Qatari emirate. Not likely from a guy investing heavily into golf courses and resorts with the aforementioned royals.
The Donald can bomb the Western Iraqi desert, kill a bunch of ISIS imbeciles in white Toyotas around Mosul, and it doesn’t mean anything, as long as the root of the problem isn’t addressed because they would spring elsewhere.
The French police thwarted a terrorist attack yesterday, detaining several ISIS sympathizers - French nationals, Moroccans and Afghans. How does bombing the Syrian desert relate to this?
No proof? Jesus…Pretty much everything he’s doing points out that he’ll focus on his business interests.
LONDON — When President-elect Donald J. Trump met with the British politician Nigel Farage in recent days, he encouraged Mr. Farage and his entourage to oppose the kind of offshore wind farms that Mr. Trump believes will mar the pristine view from one of his two Scottish golf courses, according to one person present.
_The meeting, held shortly after the presidential election, raises new questions about Mr. Trump’s willingness to use the power of the presidency to advance his business interests. Mr. Trump has long opposed a wind farm planned near his course in Aberdeenshire, and he previously fought unsuccessfully all the way to Britain’s highest court to block it.
loppar:
Thanks for adding specifics to the “geopolitical threads” I alluded to.
In his defense, I don’t think anyone voted for him because they thought he could get rid of ISIS. The same goes for whatever claims Hillary made about the middle east too. If they were to start calling themselves by a new name whatever administration in charge would declare it a victory. Anything regarding the middle east during the election was just for talk mostly, say what you need to say to appeal to your base and move on to a new subject.
Now it’s Trumps fault and he hasn’t even taken office yet!
He talks with the president of Argentina, a former real estate developer that has had previous dealings with Trump, and its OBVIOUS (from 3rd hand information, gleaned from being in the room during a phone call) that he is using the office to enrich himself.
WHAT OFFICE!?!?
HE ISN’T THE PRESIDENT!
HE HASN’T TAKEN OFFICE!
Of course that would never happen with Obama. Not because of his sterling character, but because he was a total schmoe and no one even wanted to talk to him, had previous dealings with, or build new relationships with.
The supposed dumpster fire that Trump was purported to be has gotten a warmer reception by the rest of the world leaders BEFORE EVEN TAKING OFFICE that Obama could manage in 8 YEARS.
I’m beginning to understand more and more just how both the Left AND the Right create their own realities…
Well Mufasa, how would you characterize Obamas relationships with other nations leaders?
I’d say the were flat for the most part, and in some cases downright cold and disrespectful.
That wasn’t directed at you, or anyone specifically, SkyzykS.
It was just a general observation…albeit a very frustrating one.
Zeb can give you a complete list of anything and everything you could ever want to know about President Obama.
List of scandals under Obama presidency
You say this while posting an article from a “news” paper owned by a billionaire who stands to lose billions as a result of Trumps plan to enforce America’s immigration laws.
How does the irreparable damage to Trump’s brand from his campaign run play into furthering his business interests? Please walk us through that
“…List of scandals under Obama presidency…”
raj:
I’ve studied Presidents and Presidencies for some time now.
A lot of people need to do the same.
Make sure and bookmark all those scandals…
Then we’ll talk in 4 years.
I’ve worked for several ME and Asian versions of Trump in my business career. All very smart, but with an attention span of a goldfish, loud, brash, seeing everything in black and white terms, constantly interrupting, easily bored, prone to refer you impatiently to their “guys” when discussions get too boring or too technical (and that’s almost every time).
I’ve never worked with anyone worth 7 figures, let alone 10, that “impatiently refer you to their guys” and didn’t actually listen to either you (as an advisor) or their “guys”. And all of these “guys” that I’ve dealt with are actually very good at their jobs.
You’re stuck in this idea that dude isn’t going to listen to anyone, and doesn’t understand the implications of his situation. He’s been doing this, and paying attention longer than I’ve been alive, if I get it, he probably does too.
I thought to myself, this guy is either the biggest idiot to ever enter politics or he has a hidden genius. I am still wondering lol.
Closer to the latter.
I’m not a Trump supporter beyond the butthurt he causes in the left. Other than that, I’m very nervous about his plans. His “plain English” explanations and promises leave out a lot of nuance I’m concerned with. The whole “go after their families” stuff… and the fact he’s a NYC liberal at heart…
But I get why he won, and in some respects absolutely love it, and love even more the left doubling down on the “everyone’s racist” and other PC victim Olympics rhetoric.
With Trump it’s the opposite problem - unable to make clear, snap judgments he’ll either grow bored of the nuances of specific geopolitical problems or end up being manipulated by foreign governments to do their bidding by painting a black-and-white picture for him (I elaborated before why “destroying ISIS” is actually a very complex and formidable task)
Not if he actually listens to his team he won’t. He’ll likely be a lot more trigger happy than Bam given his cabinet picks I’ve seen thus far.
I’m guessing we’ll see a reunion of Rage Against The Machine next
It’s more like Rage FOR the Machine. They are commies.
It seems that Trump wants to run the US of A foreign policy like his real estate business - by relegating to members of his family circle. Donald Jr i responsible for Syria and Jared for Israel and Palestine…
For this to be a cut and dry as you are putting it, would require him to be a moron. We’ve established he likely isn’t.
Fidel Castro just died, will be interesting to see what develops.
Fucking Canada’s PM is a total douche, lol.
The GOP and Conservatives have no excuses to not create a Utopia
That’s the real problem though… Most people on the right know there is no Utopia, and certainly if there was, government sure as shit isn’t creating anything.
Best thing government can do is get out of the way of a good thing.
alone would put anything that Bush experienced in the minor leagues compared to volume of vitriol and disrespect that this President has experienced.
Volume? Maybe, but I disagree with the rest. I’ve heard plenty of bad things about Regan and both Bushes, much of whom rivals any of the bad things I’ve heard (and said) about Obama.
I don’t think Bam took any more or less undeserved heat than any before him.

lol, the Kennedy’s did the same shit on the Cape… It’s called “not in my backyard” syndrome.
(This is not a defense of the position, I just find it funny.)
“…I don’t think Bam took any more or less undeserved heat than any before him…”
The shear number of outlets available to spread vitriol; to greater numbers of people; more rapidly than ever before would make that untrue, Beans…especially after the Technological Advancements that were brought to their full fruition in latter 2006-2007.
Each subsequent President will most likely be exposed to even more.
So I respectfully disagree.

I will GUARANTEE YOU that McConnell, Ryan and the rest of the GOP will use and wield the “Evil, Oppressive Government” to the fullest extent possible…and milk as much out of it as they can.

I agreed with the volume portion of what you said, if that wasn’t clear. (Which is what you’re again describing.)
I don’t think he got any more abuse than any other POTUS though. Shit the press has been carrying his water for the last 8 years.
What I’m saying it, he got shit, a lot of it, some deserved, some not. So has every other POTUS. This has been going on since Jefferson v Adams. End of the day… I think you’re confusing volume with amount because more people can hear it now without having to look for it.
I will GUARANTEE YOU that McConnell, Ryan and the rest of the GOP will use and wield the “Evil, Oppressive Government” to the fullest extent possible…and milk as much out of it as they can.
I said people on the right. Those are politicians, and not on the right.
“…I said people on the right. Those are politicians, and not on the right…”
Help me out here, Beans.
Wasn’t this whole election…from the Presidency to Congress…and from State Houses to the Supreme Court…all victories for the Right?
Fix it if it’s broken.
No damn excuses
Who said anything about excuses?
And if you don’t think it’s broken then you must think that 1% growth is good. You must think that 96 million Americans out of the workforce is good. You must also think that the world in shambles with no American leadership is good.
Silly Mufasa of course it’s broken. And of course we only have one way to go…UP.
