Hey guys, I was wondering what you do as far as pre-workout nutrition. This is one area that I need to improve. I usually work out at 5:30 in the morning and take PowerDrive at about 5:00. I’ve tried a half serving of Surge about 20 minutes later, it sets well. I’d appreciate any ideas or links to articles, etc… Thanks!!
Lately I’ve been mixing up 1 scoop of Surge pre-workout and slugging down 1/3 of it right before the workout. I’ll finish it off in 2-3 slugs during the workout. Seems to help.
But then, I’ve usually had a bowl of oats about 4:00am, so I’ve got other energy to draw on besides the Surge.
One thing I would suggest is to try to have a liquid meal rather than a solid meal. I find that liquid meals agree with my stomach and are much easier to get down when I have to eat that early in the morning. This may just be me, but it’s something to think about.
As for what to put in it, I would have some good whey protein with some fast absorbing carbs. You’ve just been fasting for 8 plus hours, depending on when you last ate, so you need things that will get absorbed quick.
Bloody hell - & i thought i got up early! Found a banana and a whey shake/with double espresso mixed in about 40 mins prior to workout does me good. Though i ain’t a morning man and my training is done nearer lunch or after work.
Craig, when do you wake up relative to your workout?
Your surrent paractice looks pretty good but I’d fire off a whole serving of Surge pre workout.
