haha, No I dont’ think so.
I feel like their are rational arguements for both sides.
Chemically addictive like alcohol and nicotine no, mentally habit forming, yes.
I have to ask, what exactly are you looking for with prescription pills? Use with out a prescription?

Well in today’s society why go buy weed or uppers/downers or feel good meds when you can just go to your local Dr get your insurance to pay for your Vicodin (opiate), Soma (Valium derivative), Xanax (Valium Derivative), Adderal (Meth) and when those done work then you get the Oxycodone, Fentyl Lollypops etc.
Most of our customers work in the industrial field, do you really want someone high as a kite working in a refinery that could blow up a whole town? Or again the guy at the nuclear power plant? Plus if people are on these meds regularly than most of the time they have some chronic orthopedic problem that needs screened also.
Or they are just bat shit crazy and an addict of another kind.
I get all that, going to work high is idiotic. Please dont miss understand what im saying, that’s worst idea ever.
What if someone has a prescription for whatever pill? They just dont get hired?

No that would be discrimination, there is a process that basically I correspond with the persons Dr through paperwork, medical records and phone conversations. What I am screening is to make sure they are not going to work on the meds. Tons of people take meds after work that are out of their system by morning and that is appropriate. But my company is basically being utilized because we live in a society of people that do not want to hurt, feel and be comfortably numb. Also the expectations are to go to a Dr and get a script for what ails you and Drs know this, I am there to make sure they do what is correct for the potential employee.
I?d say buy one of the shampoos and take the test. If he fails he should be honest and tell them, hey I sometimes smoke pot. Depending on what the job is he might have a chance if it?s a smaller company and he already knows some people there. I’m also assuming no other drugs would show up on the test. Obviously if it?s for a law enforcement type job, teacher etc he?s screwed but I?d say if he?s going to be working in an office environment and is honest he might have a chance they say the guy smokes pot, who cares there are much greater evils. It’s at least worth a try…

Come on DB, this is TN you’re not supposed to stay on topic. Now, let’s do this right, what do you think of RIG these days?

Dead serious. Not chemically addictive = not addictive in my book. Otherwise any asshat who is lacking willpower can just be “addicted” to whatever the fuck he likes doing.
Meth is addictive. Heroin is addictive.
Weed and twinkies are not addictive lol.
Story sounds weird only because if they wanted him they would’ve accepted the urine test. Only high security or credit companies I can see requiring a hair test, in which case I don’t see why he would be smoking while looking for work.

So you are stating that THC has no addictive qualities.
How are you making this statement a fact?
And alcohol does it have addictive properties?

According to the Vulcan Science Council, time travel is impossible.
Clearly invalidated by Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home as well as Star Trek First Contact.

I do hair test on iron workers, labors, pipe fitter helpers going to work at BP in Texas City or any DOW plant.

I’m not sure what the point of this comment is.
I’ve also noticed that if you google/search for questions related to drug tests online, without fail there are always lots of people responding this way, and insisting that everyone who’s ever done any kind of drug will fail a drug test.
What’s the underlying motivation for comments like this?
Just for a frame of reference, we are not talking about teenagers, or college students. We are talking about adult professionals who take a puff every so often, and we are talking about six figure jobs. This is a guy who has been fine/quite successful his entire adult life being a responsible, occasional user.
I think the point is: He’s trying to find a loophole because he’s about to be caught for something he’s very much guilty of. Why not just man up and admit it? Beyond the respectable side of it, many employers offer some form of treatment for first time offenders.

Fuckin doctors and scientists and studies! Lol, they all say that “marijuana has no physically addictive properties”. You could smoke yourself silly everyday for a whole year and then stop cold turkey and be just fine.
People like to play these semantics games where they define addictive in such a way that you can get “addicted” to weed. If you subscribe to that then fine, but it seems stupid to me.

Or… find a job that cares about results, not so much about how you get there.
And even if drug testing is a matter of policy, it doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t hire him because he failed.
You can become “addicted” to anything.

x2
what a stupid post. Of course weed can be addictive.
To the OP, as has been mentioned already, your friend is a fucking idiot if he has been taking illegal drugs knowing he may get some form of drug testing while applying for new jobs.
He will just have to deal with the consequences and miss out on the job. Rather than get all irate about it he should be a fucking man and see it is his own fault.

Studies done in England have show saturated fat and sugars together can light up the brain’s addiction centers more than crack.
