Just testin the deadlift… 545 went up pretty smooth but still feels heavier than it should. Going to start rotating a ME Squat/Dead day again so next week I will squat heavy then hopefully the following week my deadlift will feel better. Just went light on the RDL’s to get back into the groove. I plan on hitting these harder in the coming weeks also to hopefully work the lockout.
I slacked off on the stretching again for a while now and I think that is affecting me also. Everything in my PC is so tight again that I can only get about 6 inches away from touching my toes with my legs straight. I don’t think I’ve ever been able to touch my toes… maybe it’s just my proportions and natural lack of flexibility, but I am going to make it a goal now to stretch hard and be able to touch my toes eventually. A few months ago I was stretching hard and came close but didn’t quite reach, lol.
On another note… BW is around 245 in the morning which is around where I want to be… will probably get up to about 250 morning weight.
I have never hit 17 pullups even at a lighter bodyweight. I am going to shoot for hitting 20 pullups at 250 bodyweight… that might not sound huge but I think I would be pretty proud of that, haha. Plus… focusing on my lat strength has got to help my deadlift some right? The way I deadlift lockout is my weakness, so I need to have a stronger upper back. Not to compare myself to KK, but he kinda deadlifts like that also, and he has an insanely upper back to lock those deads out.

great job on the bench PR. did you happen to get a vid because we all know- no vid…didn’t happen.
besides, over there in tea and crumpets land are you sure that the weight wasn’t in bushels?? [/quote]
Thanks, haha. Yeah… I realize it never happened. I actually have a couple sessions to post up that I haven’t yet this week. I went for 365 on Monday and barely missed it.
I also worked up to a 475 squat today which isn’t bad, since my all-time best was around 495 I think, at a higher BW. But I haven’t been squatting nearly that heavy in quite a long time, so I think I will hit some PR’s pretty quick.
Gonna do some reverse band bench and squats for the next couple weeks and get used to some heavy ass weights. The squat today just FELT so damn heavy on my back since I’m not used to it.
Still felt good after this session. I feel stronger, but the 365 just wasn’t happening this day. I am going to attempt it again in a few weeks after doing some heavy reverse band stuff.
Edit: I suppose it didn’t matter whether or not I got the 365, because I had no camera with me anyway.
Happy with 475 since I haven’t done a heavy squat in what seems like ages. Gonna do some reverse band squats for a few weeks too. That weight just felt like it was crushing me, lol… just not used to it. I will be hitting squats hard again now.

I set up the bands so they weren’t taking anything off at lockout. I put 135 on the bar and it took it down to barely touching my chest, so I’m saying that is how much it takes off I guess. I only had a liftoff for the 445, but it was just some random guy, who was nice… but it didn’t really feel like he helped me at all. These are the times I really miss training at home where I get a perfect lift off with no jerk on the bar and some help bringing it forward, so all I have to do is bring it down. Especially when it’s extra heavy on something like this. The 445 wasn’t really TOO heavy though, but my bicep/elbow was hurting some from squatting heavy a few days ago especially since I’m not used to that. Figured I’ll just up the weight more next time and hope someone is in there that I know can give me a little better liftoff.
My close-grip strength felt great… every rep had a longer-than-competition pause and I felt good so I barely pushed out another rep on 300. After that I just did some light stuff since my arm was bothering me, which seemed to help… feels fine right now.
Going to see Immortals with the wife in a little bit, then heading to London for the weekend for her birthday. Gonna do some reverse band deadlifts and deficits on Monday!
good training joweee… looks like everything is moving now. bench is really taking off. of course if it’s actually real. only one way to tell. good push pressing as well.
i’m looking into putting on some meets at the gym. hopefully it works out.
had a good bench session today. things are moving nicely.
got your message about coming down for the meet in february. sounds good to me.

I’ve had plenty of rest the last couple weeks since my mishap with getting a bit burnt out on deadlifts. Just got back to heavy deads today and they felt pretty good. First video I’ve taken in a while…
Zerchers were set up pretty low, was about in a parallel squat position to start… gonna up that weight next time. Felt like a good short session considering I got about 5 hours of sleep and woke up at 5am. Gym was having weird hours today so I had to get in really early.

Yeah, gettin back to heavier training with more rest between sessions. Gonna stick to just 3-4 a week. I’ll try to get a video of next heavy bench day, and definitely will have a video next time I attempt 365. Also been eatin more… weight back up to around 250.
That sounds awesome… I’m assuming some unsanctioned ones first??
Yeah, I just watched your bench videos earlier. That 505 looked great… your weight goin up too?
I’ll try to call you again today, not sure if you are training or not but I’ll try to call you around 4pm your time so I can catch you before hand if you are. I think it will work out, I’ll know soon since I will book flights early. I’ll probably be back for a couple weeks so it’s worth the trip.

Thanks man. It felt like a productive day. Trust me I never forget my strength when I started training with him, haha. Training is going well again now that I’m back to training more like how Scott does.
405 is a ways off still, but I just can’t help but think of the day that I bench 4 plates. I also can’t help but think that would never of happened if I hadn’t ever started training with Scott and Dave.
Short term goals… 365 bench and 635 deadlift, and to get my squat up a bit closer to my deadlift… too soon to really know what my goal is for it though.

Just a quick session today. Heavy bench on saturday then heavy deads on monday. Gonna make sure I’m rested up for both… excited to hit some heavy singles. Hoping everything feels good with some rest and if it does I’m gonna go for a 500 rev band bench and 700 dead. Both set up so the weight is deloaded at the very top of the lift.

Nice training day… hit the 465 and still got some left in the tank. That weight felt heavy as hell holding it at lockout. Pretty happy with hitting 2 good pauses on CG with 315. Just finished up with some light crap and I’ll hit some higher rep stuff on my next bench day. Heavy deads on monday.

Well I finally gave up on the idea of getting a phone. I am getting a new Ipod Touch so I’ll have my own camera and video and all that. That will probably be here next week… then I will be whorin up the videos again.
I’ll bring our camera to the gym today though and video my deadlifts!

Man, 635 felt heavy, and not super fast… so I was nervous about upping to 695, lol. I even checked my camera to see the last time I pulled to make sure it was actually 675… well it was, so I knew I felt good to pull and I knew I could pull it. Got a group of the military guys there to video it, haha. Got psyched up and it went up faster than I expected it too.
I don’t think I’m going to go any heavier on the reverse bands… I wish I had some chains to pull against. Been trying to ask around on the base if anyone knows of how I could get some, haha.
I won’t deadlift heavy again for almost 2 weeks probably. Going to belgium on Wednesday for a few days and when we get back I will hit some heavy squats and try to hit a PR.
There is actually a push/pull competition less than a couple hours away on Dec 4th, that I am thinking of doing. That’s only about 2 weeks away so I could just do some speed pulls next week, then test my deadlift at the competition. It would just be for fun but I would like to hit a 1000 total on a push/pull which I think I might have in me right now.
After that, I don’t plan on doing any competitions until April, when Brute strength holds their next full PL meet, and I will fly home to compete with Scott and everyone else. I think if I work on my squat I could hit a 1600 total then.
Er… was just looking at the entry form for this competition here in 2 weeks, and it says the deadline to sign up was last week… I’ll call tomorrow and see if they will let me anyway.

Awesome. I just spent a few days in Belgium just eating waffles and drinking awesome beer, which clearly makes you stronger. I am pretty happy about those PR’s. They aren’t big PR’s… but I really think I can hit that 365 bench soon, which I’m pretty excited about. Going to do some deadlifts against mini bands tomorrow, which I haven’t done in a while. Nothing too heavy, just want to see how they go.
I bought this luggage weighing device, which I think could be used to weigh band tension… you just strap it around a suitcase handle (or whatever you want) and pick it up and it tells you how heavy it is. I’m going to see how it works when measuring band tension… I think it’ll be pretty neat to try.
