If it is an infection could I possibly make it worse by trying the see what I can draw out with a syringe by pushing the infected material deeper in or moveing it around?
Necrotic tissue will be remodelled into scar tissue.
As far as poking your site with a needle, You probably will not be able to draw up anything but you may be able to visualize some blood once you pull out the needle. If the blood is not dark red, if it has any discoloration to it i.e. pus, then you know for sure it is an infection. At this point go to the doctors and get some antibiotics - if the infection has grown too large they may need to remove the tissue. I seriously doubt you have an infection though. Also just make sure you use sterile technique with the needle.
If it’s a pus-filled cyst, you’ll be able to suck some out. Trust me.
