Possible Honeymoon Destinations?
gregron wrote:
Turks & Caicos is already one of my top possibilities ID. Did you and Mrs Dwarf go there?

Not on our honeymoon (we were basically penniless artists then).
But we’ve been there 3 times between 2004 and 2009.

I still feel like I left a piece of my heart and soul there.

Dude, go to Bora Bora and get one of those hotels with the glass floors and a walkway out into the water.

This is pretty much what the wife and I did. Did the over-water hut in Moorea for 4 days, then 7 day cruise of the main islands in French Polynesia (including Bora-bora). It was fucking fantastic. By far the best trip I’ve ever had.
we have a couple friends who got married in February and they went to Bora Bora/Tahiti for 7 nights… They got a good deal on the “over the water, glass bottom room” and it was $1,500 a night… thats crazy expensive… but the pictures were incredible

We went to Costa Rica during the month of Sept. It was really cheap to fly there from California and we often had the beaches, restaraunts, and hotels almost to ourselves. The weather was fantastic and scenery beautiful. It was also extremely relaxing. We rented a 4X4 and went from the beach to the mountains so there was even variety if you get sick of the beach.

Go to BRAZIL Greg!!!

Rio de Janeiro and then head over to Bahia - Arraial d’Ajuda is AMAZING!! And in November its hot down there and people are getting ready for the parties! I spent months traveling around Brazil, most amazing time of my life and everything about Brazil makes you want to get it on!

You and the missus will love it

the Seychelles are nice unless you like crowds. if you need to be around a lot of people go somewhere else. great sailing, diving, fishing, hiking, or just lay on the beach. I love the place.

So if any of you guys have some good advice (besides the standard “dont get married!!!” lol) I’d be very appreciative. List any suggestions of great possible locations if you feel like helping a brotha out.

Don’t get married! haha…

Closer to the US I guess Hawaii?

Thailand is beautiful. Islands of the coast of Australia (Queensland etc).

Also from being married 7 years - make every trip feel like a honeymoon, that’s my advice

^^LOL

Thanks a lot everyone. So far there are some really good suggestions in here. I am compiling a list right now to show the Future Mrs. Gregron when she gets home. She’s going to think I’m so smart :stuck_out_tongue:

Googling these suggestions has resulted in some truly beautiful scenery. I’m jelly that I cant go to all of those places

I really appreciate everyones input. If you guys have any other suggestions or input then send it this way.

Other tips - try and find a place with some of the activities that you guys like to do (she likes yoga or pilates right?). Special breakfasts, dinners, walks, massages all work really well.

I think one problem you’ll never have - is being able to fit into your tuxedo (try not to look too intimidating) haha.

EDIT : Honeymoon planking? lol

The little lady and I are doing a destination wedding to St. Thomas in the USVI’s next spring. If you’re looking to stay on US territory, it looks beautiful, plenty of beaches and shopping, and you can hop over to St. John or the BVIs with a short ferry trip. They’ve got a few all-inclusive high-end resorts, but we’re doing things more economically.

The Caymans are gorgeous, or you could hit that island and a few others on a cruise.

<----- headed to turks and caicos when I get back from Afghanistan for our honeymoon… got married 1 week before wheels up. Of course I still have well over 10 months before my toes are in the sand with a beer in my hand. :frowning:

Scotland man. Ye cannae beat it for beaches, sand and sun!!

The Big Island of Hawaii.

One non-stop flight from CA to Kona.

Admittedly if I had the bucks Hawaii would be next on my hitlist. I’d forgotten how stunning the place looked till the recent 5O series!

Ok so I will be getting married in 6 months and am starting to plan out the honeymoon… but I dont really know where I want to go?

Somewhere warm where we can lay by the pool/ocean/bay and sip some cocktails with the wifey.

I’ve thought of the “usual” places but I’m working on compiling a list of possible spots to start really researching into.

So if any of you guys have some good advice (besides the standard “dont get married!!!” lol) I’d be very appreciative. List any suggestions of great possible locations if you feel like helping a brotha out.

Thanks Guys and Gals
We went to St. Lucia in 2007. Loved it. Loving marriage too,… the 2nd time around.
We went in 2009, awesome place. Grande St. Lucian Sandals.
Food was awesome, service was amazing, beach was great. Good sandy beach, clear water, a few beach walkers trying to sell stuff (pretty common I hear down in the Caribbean) but it wasn’t bad and if you said no thanks they wouldn’t bug you.

Good tours as well.

that being said, what’s your budget? If price is no concern, I hear Fiji is a hot spot now and amazing as well

My wife and I rented a private villa on St. Barths. It had it’s own pool with a 270 degree view of the Atlantic and Caribbean. The only thing above our villa was a mountain goat - no houses above, left or right, only below.

The island is small, so beaches and restaurants were all a short drive. Villa came with a Suzuki Samurai for the week too. Best week of our lives together.

Me too, Sandals Halcyon. Spent the first day and a half at our resort, then used the shuttle to go back and forth between the three. Only problem was we had to leave a day early because there was a hurricane coming for the first time in 26 years (we picked St. Lucia because it hadn’t had a hurricane in a long time).

crazy thing. My ex fiance got married a few weeks before I did. They were at the Halcyon in St Lucia, same time we were at the Grande (or whatever the one w/o the golf course is).
