I had no idea this existed, was nation wide and accessible to any treating doctor. I had to have a tooth extracted yesterday and the Doctor asked me what medications I was taking. I didn’t want to divulge that I was taking Testosterone so I didn’t. After the procedure he asked me if I was taking Testosterone so at that point I said yes. Then he asked me about Oxandrolone. I denied that since I hadn’t taken that for about six months and didn’t want to share that. He told me it was in my PMP. Afterwards I did some searching and learned what the PMP Is. The Oxandrolone was prescribed by a clinic in Florida and I live in NY so the PMP is a national database. I guess there is no privacy and anything I am prescribed is accessible to any Doctor regardless of the context of treatment. They have to check for potential negative drug interactions.
Controlled substances, right? I”m not sure if they track non-scheduled medications. Did he mention any of those?
EDIT: this is good as there was some question about compounded medications showing up on this controlled substance database. It appears that they do, or at least that some compounding pharmacies report to them.
May I ask why? It’s nothing to be ashamed of. I notify all my docs when they ask. Anything like Oxandrolone or other AAS yeah, I would be embarrassed as it’s not medicine and you would likely be shamed.
It may draw issues with life insurance policies. My provider made me jump through a few hopes when I re-did my policy and told them I was on TRT.
EDIT: they were also able to see my Suboxone Rx, even though I didn’t tell them I was on it.
I can tell you from experience that maybe on NEW life insurance but usually not existing. Hell after a grace period of about two years most policies will even pay out if you intentionally kill yourself.
I want privacy. I don’t want to be judged or discriminated for certain decisions I make involving my life choices or healthcare. I don’t want every and any health care provider knowing every aspect of my health history, especially when it may not even be relevant. I want to have control over who can access my information and when and why. What if I had some potentially embarrassing health care issue and I went to my dentist and she’s going to prescribe me some medication and checks my PMP and now every time I go in there for a checkup she’s thinking about what I thought I could keep private. Testosterone and Oxandrolone and Nandrolone Decanoate might not be embarrassing but that should be up to me to disclose and not have someone question me about something I thought I could keep private and disclose as necessary and with my consent.
Yes correct, I was renewing my policy to pay off a previous loan I had taken out on it years ago. So this was setting up a new one.
