There’s a whole lot to chew on in that article, not the least of which is that tree cutting is neck and neck with fishery related industry for deadliest jobs in the US.
Seriously, the only thing that will match the number of dead trees in that forest is the number of dead would be tree cutters that go into the forest with a chainsaw and a lack of skill and experience thinking that they will make it big. From experience I can say that tree cutting is absolutely Not for just any ole body that wants to make a few bucks.
And thats before you even get to the dollars and cents side of it.
That’s actually pretty well put, only it’s more that they didn’t plan their thing appropriately than the opposite. That’s better than the other guy who tried to make it seems like I am hacking my grades or something.
I ended doing the 8 months + something more with it.
I still doesn’t see the problem with going around stupid things creatively when it doesn’t do wrong to anyone.
And it’s the very people the “feel gooders” think they are helping. The people with minimum skill. Great, you’ve just made it more difficult for low skilled people to find jobs. Yaay raising the minimum wage to make me feel self righteous!
Why the hell would people work hard then? What’s the incentive if you’re only going to get paid a little more than minimum for unequal work?
Why is it up to you to decide how much someone is worth? Does the CEO of Walmart make too much?
Know what also isn’t true? A company being responsible for your life choices or that a company forces people to work for them and their shitty wages.
You’re going to have to pony up something to substantiate that “fact”. If anything. min. wage guys get hazed in by working them half to death, no breaks, and if they quit- well fuck’em.
People work harder than others to advance to a better position, hence get paid more… Correct?
So why work harder than you have to if the pay isn’t much more and the job has more responsibility?
Youre arguing with people who would rather live in ignorance than accept their notion of how this country works is fundamentally flawed or at least might be partially incorrect, for the sake of feeding their ego.
The sad thing too is none of them are rich and powerful, yet their views go against their own interests. They’ll catch on when their employer screws them over in 10 to 20 years.
People work hard because they need money to pay rent and bills. When the average ratio between upper management pay and worker pay has increased by a factor of 10 over the last 30 to 40 years, and average productivity has increased linearly during this time, it is clear the worker today is not getting compensated proportionally to what he would have gotten from between the 1960s and the 1980s.
The fact of the matter is we need a raise in all wages. Most people are getting underpaid. That McDonalds job, for “teenagers working part time” is a recent perception. The fact of the matter is, many years ago jobs like that were seen as a means to a living. Not an extravagant one but it does not change the fact people need wages so they can provide the essentials for themselves. In fact, youd probably be interested to know teens today work much harder than they did between the 50s and 80s.
So to answer your question, yes, the CEO and those who are making the equivalent of 10 grand a day do make too much. This isnt about “communism” or “being liberal” or “being conservative” - this is about the average american getting screwed slowly over the last 50 years.
Now, what absolutely blows my mind is how you have people who are not in the top tier, who are making less than what they should be, who still advocate to keep their wages low because “Gosh Darn it This is Murca and the Merket fixe’s her self and if ye werk hard then ya shud get paid more!!!”
Those people at the top, want workers who have that simple mindset, because they can keep screwing them over and they are so ignorant they dont even realize theyve gotten a raw deal.
Those of us who champion limited government and free markets do understand what is partially wrong with the way the U.S works, too much interference. We have too much central planning as it is. The very illness that is eating us is what people like you and @jasmincar believe is the solution. The more the plans fail, the more the planners plan.
You have this idea, you and your friends, that somehow “limited government” fixes everything. You also seem to think that the market is some kind of omnipotent force that reaches an equilibrium that satisfies everyone.
You are wrong. The economy is controlled by a few elite which comprise the business, defense, and government, and banking sectors. Those who are in charge of these sectors have no accountability. Just recently we saw what happened at Wells-Fargo. The CEO got off with a slap on the wrist, costing many people their jobs, doing some highly illegal banking practices. These people need to be jailed and treated like criminals.
Under your system the magical free market will somehow hold the C level executives of wells fargo accountable. Has it happened yet? No. Why? Because we don’t have laws in place or people willing to enforce them.
NOTHING satisfies everyone. Ever. Least of all government. Your mistake is believing a solution can be reached where everyone is satisfied, and that mistake is amplified exponentially by believing not only that it can be reached, but that the government of all things can be the entity to reach the magic happy point.
I would infinitely rather have the increased mobility and freedom limited government allows than deal with an ever more powerful bureaucratic behemoth.
If there is a company or individual with as much power as you claim, I’d rather have it be accountable to the masses than free from consequences.
The very thing you seek, empowerment for the people, is the very thing that capitalism gives. If you do not support the viewpoints of Howard Shultz, then do not buy a latte from his chain. Similarly with the values of Hobby Lobby.
Do you really think that the government is full of Mother Theresas? There cut from the same opportunistic cloth as those on evil Wall Street.
The difference is, Skilling goes to jail and politicians extend favors.
We are talking about hourly rates. You get to work anyway, whatever the responsibilities are. It is the same number of hours. Most minimum wage jobs are still stressful in their own way. Don’t worry the employer will squeeze the juice out of you in those places. It’s not about the harder part.
