When the average ratio between upper management pay and worker pay has increased by a factor of 10 over the last 30 to 40 years, and average productivity has increased linearly during this time, it is clear the worker today is not getting compensated proportionally to what he would have gotten from between the 1960s and the 1980s.
You have the same problem that many people have, you think the economy of 1960 and the economy of 2016 are the same. They are not.
Take a look at the Gross Output by Industry in 1960 v. 2015:

I highlighted some of the larger shifts; including the large drop in manufacturing output.
The fact of the matter is we need a raise in all wages. Most people are getting underpaid. That McDonalds job, for “teenagers working part time” is a recent perception. The fact of the matter is, many years ago jobs like that were seen as a means to a living.
There was never a time in McDonald’s history that a entry level job there provided a living wage. Where do you get this stuff?
Lol, okay…
Well, then start a business with your own capital at your own risk and pay yourself less. Set an example for us all.
Now, what absolutely blows my mind is how you have people who are not in the top tier, who are making less than what they should be, who still advocate to keep their wages low because “Gosh Darn it This is Murca and the Merket fixe’s her self and if ye werk hard then ya shud get paid more!!!”
This is called conjecture. According to the article from Pew you posted I’m well into the upper level of household incomes with a family of 3.
I don’t know why you’re so jaded, but, and I mean this sincerely, do yourself a favor and find another line of work or another employer.

Those of us who champion limited government and free markets do understand what is partially wrong with the way the U.S works, too much interference. We have too much central planning as it is. The very illness that is eating us is what people like you and @jasmincar believe is the solution. The more the plans fail, the more the planners plan.
Bingo. It costs an employer over $10K per employee in federal regulations alone.
Literally, no one believes this.
Sorry, friend, you are the one that is wrong.
The economy is controlled by a few elite which comprise the business, defense, and government, and banking sectors.
This is complete non-sense. This is like saying the lizard jews control the economy.

I think you get the idea…
Just recently we saw what happened at Wells-Fargo. The CEO got off with a slap on the wrist, costing many people their jobs, doing some highly illegal banking practices. These people need to be jailed and treated like criminals.
We’ll see:
The search warrant and related documents, served Oct. 5 and obtained by The Times through a public records request, confirm that California Atty. Gen. Kamala Harris, in the final weeks of a run for U.S. Senate, has joined the growing...
We’ve had this conversation already. @Aero51 just think people should be thrown in jail. He doesn’t know who, but that it should just be done. Smell that freedom:
It’s all here already:
You are dense. That article explained everything about wage stagnation you need. I knew you’d have some canned response. If you cant understand it then maybe you cant read either. I don’t know what you expect.
When people tell me they are 100% productive at work, work 60hrs/week, never screw aound, etc. They tend to be liars. I don’t know a single person, not even the best, who is the perfect employee.
Actually, I don’t even want to talk to you anymore. Im coming to understand nothing I …
