A buddy of mine came up with a pretty good idea the other day to make a few quick bucks. What I want to know is if it’s legal or not. Since we have a direct connect hub at my school, my access to full length pornos is very accessible. I was thinking that when I go to other universities who have no access to downloading full length pornos in a few minutes to visit people, that I could download a whole bunch of pornos on mine and my buddies lab top, and then sell them. To do this we would buy CDR’s, and burn divx player with the appropriate codecs, along with the customers selected porno, which we would have a list of for them to choose from by titles. I was thinking that we could sell from the lounges of residences, where we take orders one day and have pickup sessions the next day where merchandise is paid 50% upon ordering and 50% paid on pickup. I was also thinking $10/porno, and $20/3 pornos Cdn money. Is that too much ya think? Anyway that’s the plan. Let’s here peoples opinions on whether it’ll fly, and if it’s legal or not.

Because, there are no authorties care about porn. But, they also have copyright laws. On there movies. So if they wanted to crack down on illegal porn distribution they will. But, I doubt it.

Not legal… it’s a violation of copyright laws, unless the videos aren’t copyrighted… which is unlikely.
Legal = NO - Unless you are licensed to copy and distrubute them.
The VCDs you create probbably won’t play in many DVD players. They’ll play OK in computers, but most people will probably want to play them on their DVD player connected to their TV.
The other quirk is the DivX codec isn’t the greatest, and the quality of the copy won’t come close to the source quality.
I’m sure most of the college kids have the same access to pron that you do. It’s not hard if you have a .edu connection and know a little leet speak to get your hands on whatever you need.

Before I discovered my local library’s free movie rental section, I used to download movies and burn them onto VCD’s. They played just fine in my DVD player, but the quality wasn’t all that great. Some better than others, depending on the quality of the camera used by the dork who pirated it. Seriously, you have to be a real winner to bring a video camera into a movie theater.
As for the porn, not legal. Just make your own, that’s what I did.
Hmmmm…I think i’ll still do it, but I won’t advertise with fliers like I had planned. I’m not so sure that lots of others have access to super fast connections and tons of porn. I’m sure some do, but surely there must be those who don’t, or are not very computer savy. The hub here allows you to download up to 3Mb/sec off of on campus users, which is kinda fast.
Ok, so divx isn’t a good codec, what’s a good one to use?
Why not just sell drugs like everyone else that’s too lazy to actually work for their money?
DAOX: Lazy…or efficient? Drug dealers are actually more efficient a cash machine than most employees.

Let’s be honest here. Is porn that hot of a commodity? Not really. If you have an internet connection, you should be able to find something to satisfy your needs.
And do you really want to be known as the local porn peddler? Take that a step further. Do you think your prospective clientele would want you to know they like to watch porn? I mean, most of us enjoy a good porno now and again. But there has to be some level of anonymity.
I thought that it would be better than renting pornos at the video store.
Oh yeah, I was going to sell them on another campus like 5 hours away when vistiting friends there, not my campus.
