POP! Goes the Democrat!

That is what I am saying. Tribalism is a problem for anybody engaged in it, but my point is the left is drowning in it right now.

I am not out to save the left, by all means if people want to put their heads in the sand and ignore it, well hooray for my side.

If it were the right and only the right making these accusations, I wouldn’t really pay attention to it because I’d figure it’s a political dagger. But when prominent voices on the left are pulling the fire alarm over free speech, left wing public attacks, dangerous tribalism, etc.
Hell, even Obama is calling out the left over this stuff:

Imagine how much worse the GOP would have bombed the midterms if not for this problematic and prominent issue

Lol so some people doing something on “the left” is all of them but some people doing something on the right isn’t them. Hey that’s not us. Wait this is ALL of them!

Got it. Glad you’re being consistent.

Oh ok. Keep the videos no one is watching coming then. Meanwhile ignore Democrats big wins in the midterm and their chances in 2020 yet again.

Destruction indeed. It’s so bad every major Democratic candidate is leading the rights leader.

Yeah, that’s what they said in 2016.

And my point, @pat is that the Right AND Left are drowning in Tribalism…

I don’t understand your insistence of Dems doing something extraordinary. Looks pretty common for President’s party to lose Congressional seats when swapping party in Executive.

I didn’t say they did anything extraordinary. The idea that they are destroying themselves and aren’t playing well with people is a fantasy of Pats not backed up by the actual results of 2018.

Ok we can add the midterm point to another thing you continue to skip. Well how else would we determine what’s playing well? By most meterics things aren’t going that bad and the Republican President can’t lead any Dems? Can’t beat 45 percent approval?

And in the 2016 race 3 million more people voted for the person who was one of the most unliked politicians of all time so pretending that was the left not playing well isn’t backed up by fact either.

Sorry if I don’t have a YouTube video to watch.

Yes it’s awful. Prominent left leader Donald
Trump:

“If you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously, OK? Just knock the hell … I promise you I will pay for the legal fees. I promise, I promise,” he said on Feb. 1, 2016.

At a Las Vegas rally later that month, he said security guards were too gentle with a protester. “He’s walking out with big high-fives, smiling, laughing,” Trump said. “I’d like to punch him in the face, I’ll tell you.”

A similar situation unfolded at a rally that month in Warren, Michigan.

“Get him out,” he said of a protester. “Try not to hurt him. If you do, I’ll defend you in court. Don’t worry about it.”

Trump praised Rep. Greg Gianforte, who allegedly body slammed a reporter back when he was initially running for his congressional seat in 2017.

“Any guy that can do a body slam, he is my type!” Trump said on Thursday to cheers.

Someone has to stop leftist leader Donald Trump.

Leftists attack on the first amendment:

We have to do something about the left and the first Amendment. The highest ranking leftist leader Donald Trump did the following:

*Maybe in certain areas closing that Internet up in some way [audience member cheers]… Somebody will say, ‘oh, freedom of speech, freedom of speech.’ These are foolish people. We have a lot of foolish people. We have a LOT of foolish people.”

Prominent leftist leader Donald Trump wanted to ban people from coming into the country over their religion. That’s something we just can’t sit back and let the left call for.

Leftists continue to attack free speech. Well known leftist leader Donald Trump wants to open up libel laws to sue journalists easier.

Prominent leftist leader Donald Trump has repeatedly called news that doesn’t cast leftists in positive light as fake. He has threatened to cancel licenses of media organizations that don’t say positive things about him.

I have countless other examples but these are off the top of my head. Leftist supporters of leftist leader Donald Trump are just the worst.

Yet, the states that are supposedly left don’t need govt handouts like the states that vote for the right. Having more money, freedom and education is not what I would call destroying.

Wait, how can the left be drowning in it if it is at war within itself? Tribalism would be if they all agreed on everything, like the right.

Obviously he meant from Trump himself.

The right doesn’t agree on everything they just don’t have the balls to stand up to Trump. And Trump decides what he stands for when he wakes up each day.

But people on the same side challenging each other’s ideas is cause for calamity!

Speaking as someone who has voted for more D’s than R’s in my lifetime, I’d like to offer my observations on political calamity. I mostly lean conservative/libertarian now, but I also remember why I firmly sided with the D’s when I did as a young anti-war child of The Cold War, when MAD was doctrine and we had our Great Enemy.

President George W. Bush and Dick Cheney were an easy bunch to hate on. I think most of us were behind Afghanistan, but they led my generation into another long war in Iraq after we spent the entirety of the 90’s growing up in and enjoying peace and prosperity. The circumstances were shady and all of their buddies seemed to be getting rich off of it. You’re fuckin-A right I was pissed off about that when I was in my early 20’s.

Political calamity is what is happening to the Democrats as they continue to embrace fringe ideas and their implementation continues to produce bad outcomes.

It is that simple.

Oh I think they have plenty of issues but the arguments being made in this thread have all been thoroughly shown to be lacking.

Market interference to the level of Trumps tariffs would have been very fringe to the GOP not too long ago as well. Both sides in a sense have given into their fringe sides imo since the election of Obama. That’s when the right started with their purity tests, Rino, and obstruction. Now Dems are going right down the same path.

My arguments were much less as a fan of Dems and more along the lines of “can’t you see the exact same is true of GOP?” Attacks on the first amendment and calls for violence aren’t exclusive to the left. Attacks on them are coming from the highest office in the land.

This is pretty much where I am, @H_factor.

People can keep painting their tribe as the only hope for the World and any other tribe as evil-incarnate all they wish…it simply isn’t true.

I get the game of “both sides so bad/dumb stuff”. I agree there is plenty of legitimate criticism of the right.

That said, there hasn’t been a time in my life where the differences between the parties have been this large. An open socialist who has never worked in his life is in a close second, right behind a creepy career politician who I wouldn’t leave alone in a room with any person or animal I care about.

Maybe I lack the special insight needed to discern the merits of today’s Democratic Party policies. Perhaps I’m too blind to see all of their instances of improving their constituents’ lives over the decades. It is possible that I’m just not smart enough to understand why voting for them is a good idea.

I’m just a regular guy who sometimes pops my head up to survey the political scene, and I see what I see.

Republicans more or less look like they did 20 years ago. Same basic set of ideas and principles, but with a big-city bullshitter occupying the White House and being obnoxious on Twitter.

Democrats are a completely different party from 20 years ago. I don’t recognize them at all, but I think you can give them credit for returning to their party principles of stoking racial division to win power and promising to deliver one group the fruits of another groups labor. They’ve also managed to run a few states and metro areas into financial and social ruin during my life, but I’m probably just not smart enough to understand why their wonderful policies were not at fault.

But yes, those Republicans sure say and do some bad stuff too!

Maybe you do lack the insight after posting what you did @twojarslave.

I don’t even know where to start responding to your post; but I do want to say this; (and I am only speaking for myself; I’ll let others post their own thoughts…)…

Both parties are full of shit. Criticizing one does not “de facto” make one (at least not me)…a supporter of the other…And if Biden and Trump are the nominees…I will NOT be voting for either.

And if you think that the GOP does not stoke divisions among peoples as much as the DEMS…then you are lacking insight.

Tune into some of these Red, Republican Controlled State Legislatures debating a controversial topic. You won’t be taken back 20 years, but 80 or more.

Perhaps you or someone else with the necessary insight can explain the merits of their policies or point to successful outcomes from their implementation.

I know I’ve asked this before, but perhaps this is the time someone answer it.
