POP! Goes the Democrat!

There is one thing worse than playing golf, watching golf. Maybe two things - indy racing groan.

However, went to a PGA event 25 years ago and the sheer number of ultra-fine gold diggers was off the charts.

But even when there were extremely powerful and wealthy British, French and Spanish empires, within England, France and Spain you still had a lot of very poor people. Empires need cannon fodder of course. The question I therefore have is, how does the West becoming less wealthy relative to the rest of the world affect the average citizen and the poor citizen?

I realize it would barely move the needle but while we are pretty much all in agreement about showing tax returns I can’t think of anything more worthless than presidents golfing. If it didn’t cost us an assload of money I would say go for it. While we’re at it fuck all presidential vacations as well.

Fuck you Obama go to Hawaii when you’re out. Fuck Mar Lago. I’ve got to think staying in the White House is pretty sweet and it’s expensive just to stay there. Don’t like it don’t run.

Drive the President somewhere and buy out a Hampton inn or something. We haven’t had anything bad happen to a President while driving anyways.*

*. Too soon?

I think racing in general is boring as fuck. Although I might watch some motorcycle stuff. Give me some mud and some jumps not people turning left on pavement. Still I don’t watch that either really. Maybe if it’s on espn2 and nothing else is on.

Although I have a friend who swears if you go live it’s amazing. I can vouch for hockey in that regard. I never cared much for hockey until I saw a couple games in person. I still don’t follow it closely but love hockey is sweet.

Live hockey is freaking awesome. Hell, I still like the TV variety - as far as low scoring sports go it has way more going for it than soccer IMO…

But I will say I like motorcycle racing and F1. The races are shorter and they turn both ways lol. Oval tracks bore the crap out of me

@Aragorn
I really posted to talk about the gold diggers and you two start talking sports. Time to have a T checkup

Coming to a wedding in Santa Barbara sat. Any must sees you recommend between there and Carmel up Hwy 1?

Unfortunately I can’t help with that lol, I’m just an occasional race watcher and not an expert in the Cali scene.

However I can tell you that you will absolutely love the scenery on that highway, the coast is amazing!

Oh l wasnt talking any races.
Wifey and l are driving up coast a few days and wondering what to see.

Next door neighbor grew up in CA and has suggested a couple of stops.

You guys are going to have a blast. I have driven up there ages ago but I’m afraid I don’t remember specific stops any more lol

Thought I’d mention this. I used to be a teacher. My millennial students have sworn to not vote for Biden. Many of them did not go out to vote for Hillary because they thought Bernie was screwed. Their boomer parents loved Hillary and think Biden would be awesome. I’ve literally got millennial kids calling their gay hippie parents “conservative” because they want Biden.

Bernie can’t win IMO. If he ran, he would inspire huge turnout on both sides. IF someone liked his agenda, then they should be supporting Warren over Bernie since Warren has a much more complete plan for activating that agenda and she actually answers questions that Bernie fumbles over because he really does not know answers to a lot of hard questions. Warren can’t win either. Her behavior over the native American thing was racist on two fronts. First, she clearly thinks that it is important what one’s race is and second she effectively stole a minority identity for her own benefit. The moderate dems turn off millennials and pro-socialists.

I don’t disagree with any of this but I don’t think too many people who plan on voting now aren’t going to vote if it’s Biden. They might not want him but they want not Trump more. I would be highly surprised if Biden does worse than Clinton did with youth and white males.

If Biden has an edge its that he has an union boss cutthroat temperament that might appeal to some union workers in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio. If those people feel that Trump is failing then it changes the dynamics.

Curious if anyone want to do the math. Would Trump have won without Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Ohio? I know he could give back a couple or three of them.

Wisconsin: 10
PA: 20
OH: 18
MI: 16

64 EV votes and he had a 306 total margin. So he wins with some combinations but not all 4

That race was really weird. You had the two least popular presidential candidates of all time because we’re stupid as shit apparently.

Trump actually did worse than Romney in some areas but Clinton did enough worse than Obama in many areas to offset that. It’s been a while since I looked but off the top of my head I don’t remember her doing anything better than he did in 2012 which was a closer race than people seem to remember. She even did worse with women.

It really was a case of one unpopular candidate besting another. We could assume (I know) that average person Republican wins by much more and that average Person Democrat doesn’t lose.

Not to compare too much though simply because Trump is going to have advantages he didn’t have in 2016 and disadvantages he wasn’t up against then.

I personally thought that Biden looked like a douche when he came to town talking about steel and the like. I mean the last couple of decades has changed things quite a bit, like a mega research/teaching/transplant hospital system, Google, Uber, etc. The academic and tech transformation has been incredible.

It was a nice nod to the working class though after a couple of terms of Obama gutting our industrial base and Hillary vowing to do to gas extraction what Obama did to coal.

You might be interested in this article. I used to post with Nate on a poker forum before he blew up so I’ve always had a soft spot for his stuff.*

  • And yes after being so amazing in so many years his model like many others got 2016 wrong. But as any poker player can tell you even if you’re 70-30 to win when the money goes in that means you’re still losing 3 out of 10 times.

Also, New Hampshire and Nevada could go his way this time.

However, if Florida goes blue it’s over.

And Pfury to be fair - It seems when someone asks me about a Democrat and I give my opinion I’m hit with the “But Trump did it…”

I thought this thread was our assessment of the current crop (blob) of Dem candidates?

Mufasa I think it has to be.

IMHO much like Hillary, many are underestimating or completely ignoring their constituents. There are Dems around who are closer to the old Blue Dog Dems and still like their 2A rights and want a secure nation. Those people will turn Rep, they will have to. The modern Left is living in an echo chamber of far left opinion & its really hurting the Dems.

Trump winning should tell them EVERYTHING they need to know about this country. Maybe If you lived in SF, NY, DC, or Seattle and only watched CNN, CSNBC, only read Slate etc - you could see how someone like Cortez or Pellosi kind of assume that 50% of our country is ready to date a Trans dude, let illegals just crash in their back yard (and feed them steak nightly) and go melt down their neighbors guns.

My response was due to you saying Trump didn’t do the Biden things, when he did it so much Biden is playing a kids game of backpeddling.

Happy to only discuss the Dem candidates. Just seemed weird to say Trump’s the opposite of backpeddling Biden given he has an entire subreddit dedicated to his flip flops
