Any baseball fans out there? I love baseball, and I try not to pay to much attention to the soap opera surrounding it. Like SI’s idiotic steriod discovery who’s source was a crack addict. I think there are many guilty people involved, but the one guy who seems to be at the center of more of it than anybody else is BUD SELIG. I really hate this guy. What an asshole. Can we run down the huge list of fuck ups this guy has made? All-star game, contraction, unbalanced schedule, contracting successfull teams to benifit the team his daughter owns, etc…Anybody else think this guy is a supreme asshole? or is it just me?
“the team his daughter owns” Does anybody believe his daughter owns the team? I certainly don’t. On paper she is the owner; in reality Buddy Boy is still pulling the strings at Miller Field. Yes, Selig is a ass of sorts. My biggest beef is the issue of contraction(I am a Minnesota fan so I may be biased). It seems a matter of Selig letting himself be pushed around by the owners. The large market owners do not like sharing revenue with smaller markets and the owners of the possible contraction teams are not opposed either. Carl “Tightass” Pohlad in Minnesota would receive a substantial buyout if contraction ocurred, much more than the Twins are currently worth on paper. A similar situation exists with Montreal, Tampa and Florida. Thankfully, the Twins look headed for the playoffs this fall and contracting a playoff team could be difficult for Selig to explain. Maybe MLB should look back and realize they shouldn’t have added 4 teams in the last decade. I fear the NFL could be headed down a similar road. NFL execs desperatly want to fill the void in cities vacated by team. Look to the recent past: Browns in Cleveland, Texans in Houston. Now there is clamouring for a new team for LA. Since no team is seriously looking at moving there the NFL will probably expand and put a team there. Its all about getting more money right now - They should be wise to remember the fabled goose which laid golden eggs…

Loria is a bigger asshole than Selig, and I hope that the former Expos’ partners sue the pants off of them.
