Phobias

18 gauge needle broken in quad or glute.

Very weird but wasps scare me.

I workout in my attic, when winter starts (right now) some tough wasps somehow survive and make it in my attic. I’ve even stopped working out sometimes when I saw a wasp.

Man Eaters.
I like being at the top of the food chain.

I have a completely irrational fear of public speaking that developed out of nowhere when I was mid teens, before that I was a lot more confident, I have one particular memory of telling some jokes in a school assembly aged about 11 without a thought or care about standing up in front of 100 or so of my peers and telling some really not funny jokes! Just the thought of doing this now gives me sweaty palms wtf?!

I have no idea why this is but I’d guess it was probably one negative experience that wasn’t addressed at the time and was multiplied in my mind over time.

Other than that, deep water. The thought of so much water between me and solid ground beneath just makes me panic.

The mind is a powerful thing, especially when it’s working against you

I’m definitely scared of drowning. I had a couple of incidents in a pool as a kid and it’s affected me since. I can swim and dice in etc, but running low on air scares the fuck out of me.

Im also afraid of falling. Not afraid of heights, just the thought of falling and having time to understand I was going to die when I hit the deck. I had some bad nightmares about falling as a kid, I assume that’s where it comes from

I will not take baths, I will not go in pools, I will not get in a boat unless absolutely necessary.

Drowning is possibly at the very bottom of my list of ways to die. I’d rather burn.

No, I can’t swim. Not interested in learning.
Burning sucks way worse than drowning in my experience, While Scuba Diving once I ran out of air, I was only about 10 feet down so I just swam back to the surface it scared me, but I went back down the next day. Hands down I would take nearly drowning 100 times rather than be lit on fire again.
Well, I can’t argue with a man who has had both unfortunate experiences.

My logic was that if you die by drowning, all you’re doing is thinking about the fact that you’re drowning, your life is ending, all is lost, etc. Burning would be so painful you wouldn’t think about the death part.

I almost drowned once when i was younger, of ll the ways its possible to die i think drowning would probably be one of the least painful. Granted i was only 7 when it happened and dont remember it clearly but, all i knew is one minute i got caught in the tide and underwater, the next i woke up on the beach.

Of all the ways of dieing, whether it be burning, drowning, eaten by alligators, malfunctioning parachute, what I fear the most is that moment when you realize that you’re not going to see anyone you love ever again. I imagine it’s just a moment of pure clarity that cuts through the pain and the panic. That to me, is unbearably sad so if I’m going to be eaten by a shark, I just want it over quickly.

I guess you could say I have a fear, but not necessarily a phobia, or being faced with my own mortality.

Drowning = less pain = less distraction from the fact that you are dying = more fear and panic.

Burning = maximum pain = complete distraction from the fact that you are dying = less fear and panic.

Maybe I’m a wimp, but I’ll take the less pain option. I can deal with the other stuff.

You workout in your attic? That sounds dangerous.

I now have a phobia of someone deadlifting in the attic above me.

I constantly scan for snipers and whatever and worry what would happen to crowds if some disaster struck.

It’s to the point, when I get free football tickets (I get cowboy tickets, all the time, if anyone wants them), I don’t go because I don’t want to be in the traffic/crowds.

I have a big screen TV in a garage of all places (together with a weight room and couches). I open up the garage doors, start a fire in the cast iron fire box, look at the valley and the mountains, drink a few drinks with whomever shows up, and it’s way better than being there in person.
X2 on this for me…ever since the Beltway sniper incident, I just get the willies if I have to stay more or less stationary even in the suburbs.

In traffic, I always leave a few estra feet between me and the next car so I have space to build speed to ram my way out if there is an incident
