Dam dude, thats some serious front squatting

Thanks man, its progressing all right. It just feels like even though I am getting much stronger at repping out lighter weights (around the 90/95kg mark) my 1rm doesn’t want to go up a whole lot. Yesterday was my first time having 2 plates on the bar with front squats in a while so I guess it was always going to feel heavier than usual.
Damn, youre gonna catch me on those front squats if I start slackin! Nice work buddy, keep killing it. You’re strength gains are phenomenal so you have to be doing something right!

Thanks, that means a lot. Just following your lead!
28th October:
A. Bench 5/3/1:
Barx10 x2
40kgx5
60kgx5
67.5kgx5
75kgx3
85kgx5 (Pr! Reps felt pretty smooth, last one a grinder)
B. Close Grip Bench:
70kgx5
75gx5
77.5kgx5
80kgx5
60kgx17 (Oh gawd the burn/pump/swole)
C. DB Rows:
45kgx15 (No straps)
47.5kgx10 (Straps) x 3 sets
50kgx8 (Straps)
D. Facepulls:
3 sets, keep the reps around the 15 mark and really focused on the squeeze.
Notes:
Solid enough training today. Bench set up didn’t feel quite as tight as last week so I still have a bit of experimenting to do before I nail my set up. Happy enough with the last work set as the previous warm up sets felt weirdly sluggish. Not sure if I PR’d on the DB rows as I do them so sporadically! Threw in some hook-grip pull up bar hangs throughout the session to work on bringing my hook grip strength up a bit.
Wow. I leave for a few days and your hitting all sorts of PRs! Good friggin’ work on that front squat and military especially! I wouln’t want to have to compete against you on either to be honest! Your improving very quickly mate, keep it up.

Many thanks as always!
Hit the gym for a couple of hours this morning to work on some tech work for the first time in weeks. Pretty startling how quickly my snatch form has degraded after not being able to train it in a number of weeks. For every good lift I was getting, 4 or 5 misses would follow! Not good. Its definitely a technique issue thought as the weight on the bar felt stupid light. My issue definitely seemed like it was due to a lack of hip drive during the 2nd pull as when I pulled from the floor I would miss. But if I did hang variations from below the knees I’d have no issues getting the bar over head. Will definitely be trying to hammer this flaw out of my technique.
I also ended up working on my clean n’ Jerk form some. Initially I just wanted to stay light and work on form but ended up (as I always seem to do) going heavy. My clean form was feeling very solid, worked up to 85kg for some stupid easy singles (cleans only) and then made a bunch of clean n’ jerk attempts at 85. Couldn’t quite finish the jerk at 85kg though so I definitely need to start hammering the push presses on shoulder day. In general though my jerk feels like it is finally starting to look less like crap and my speed is improving somewhat. Give me a week and the 85kg clean n’ jerk will be mine!
Very solid bench numbers there man, your getting stronger day by day.

Thats the plan anyway! Hoping I can hit 100kg by January, that would be a nice little progress milestone in under a years training.
Having the most rage filled day possible today. Thought I would go and get a lift in at my college gym today and after spending an hour commuting in (massive train delays, but thats another rage story) to college I find out that the gym has been closed for the bank holiday. This is bad enough, but I figure at least I can head over the the library and get cracking on some of my assignments I have due in a few weeks.
Cue a 10 minute walk in the pouring rain (without a coat I might add…) I arrive at the library, soaking wet, only to find out that the library too has been closed. So now I’m sitting in a starbucks, soaking wet, making my way through a 3rd muffin, full of pure rage with no weights to smash to vent my frustrations. So the moral of the story is, don’t close your gym or else risk having a disgruntled patron go postal on everyone…

Aw dam man that sucks ass.
You should come to my gym on Bank holidays, they two of us could train together those days.
Luck o’ the Irish???
Sorry to hear about the rage filled day. Sometimes they just happen.

Luck o’ the Irish was not happening today unfortunately! Its all good though, I will be using all this rage to fuel my early morning deadlift session tomorrow so it’s all good!
Sorry to hear about hte shitty day man. You should take a couple days off though, you’re getting too close to me on pretty much every lift. haha. Keep up the good work man.

Hah! This just proves the existence of the magical powers of strength that getting fat gives you!
November 1st:
A. Cleans:
60kgx3 (Hang)
60kgx3 (Hang+Jerk)
70kgx3 (Full+Jerk)
80kgx3 (Full+Jerk)
90kgx1 (Full) (Full Clean Pr!)
90kgx1
90kgx1
B.Deadlifts 5/3/1:
60kgx5
80kgx5
100kgx5
105kgx5
120kgx5
137.5kgx12 (Double Over Hand Pr)
C. RDLS:
5 sets of 5 @100kg, focused on the squeeze. Slow negative and pause at bottom.
D. Snatch/Jerk Tech. work:
Did about 40 minutes of snatch and jerk technique work to clean up my form. Starting out very light with this tech work to get me back in the groove. Only put about 50kg on the bar as the focus was not to put up any real weight. My form was feeling decently snappy, I think I am gradually remembering how to snatch again!
Notes:
Solid rage fueled training today! Decently happy with the full clean PR, it felt very easy. Didn’t want to push up to 95kg as I still needed to save some for deadlifts after. Form wasn’t quite perfect though, still need to work on fully triple extending and bringing the hips into it more. Deads felt solid enough, hit 12 reps without using straps which I’m sure is a PR of some kind. I easy had another 2 or so in the tank. Cut the reps on the RDLS in half and used last weeks weight as I wanted to focus on contracting the glutes and feeling the stretch in my hammies. I think I will stick with 100kg for another few weeks on these and try and stretch the weight as far as I can.
Rage day FTW!!!
Hahaha nice lifting, partner! You really showed those weights whats what. Congrats on the PR’s. Your rage inspiring story was pretty funny though. As soon as you said you decided to walk to the library I thought “Oh shit, the library’s gonna be loses too!” lol

Haha thanks dude! My university is stupid sometimes. Its the top one in Ireland (pretty high up in the world rankings too) but yet it has the shortest library opening hours around and they make heavy budget cuts every year in the departments that need the funding most. Sometimes a brotha’ just wants to get his study on!
