I think if someone finds a troll post you should simply quote their post and add an ignore message to it like this:

Then each vet or user that recognizes that this is in fact a troll or garbage advice please hit the report on the user that made the original troll post so it can be brought to the MODS attention. We should get enough reports as long as we all follow this protocol.
That way with a warning post right under it newbies don’t take their advice, you don’t encourage them be egging them on with a real response to their stupidity, and we get them dealt with quickly.
we are a community and I think the best way to deal with things like this are as a community. If you appoint someone judge and jury of who should stay and go it is asking for problems and you are expecting that person to look at every post that goes on the board. This way is faster and easier.
It looks like the problem is solved.
TC has made it known that he/they, did not know about the problems, knows now, and all we have to do is unload more than a few “report posts” on said troll, and it will be attended to promptly. Case closed.
Sounds great, now I too know where the magic button is, and we can now clip the balls off these idiots as they arrive.

Whew, glad I found this thread. A few of my posts from last night had vanished and I couldn’t understand why. All I did was post TROLL - NO FURTHER REPLIES after several of MONSTERMATT’s craziness. But this explains it. Add my thanks to Tone, TC, and all the rest of you for cleaning up the problem. You know it’s bad when a non-vet kind of guy like me sees the danger.
However, in future, I will be continuing my TROLL post if it is an obvious one before hitting REPORT. I don’t think we should get into the habit of hitting the Report button everytime someone is an annoyance or just plain stupid. Otherwise, I think people like Jake, Jazzman, and maybe even lilrunt would have been smacked. And that wouldn’t have been good. Rather, save it for the real wastes of space like MONSTERMATT.

So if I understand correctly, as the steroid forum community, we can flag the abusers posts, ignore them, and report their posts to the mods.
OK, sounds pretty reasonable to me.
So let’s do it. I think that we’re always going to have to deal with some “bad apples” here. We’re a part of a positive community that shares/educates/supports each other, and unfortunately some people on the outside feel the need to bring their negativity into our forum. Just like in real life, if you’re happy doing your thing then someone else wants what you have, or else they want to ruin it for you because they can’t have it.
Don’t let a few unhappy idiots ruin our little family with their cancerous behaviour. Cut them out, walk away, put some Al Green on the stereo, and get back on track.

I like TC’s advice not to feed the cancer; its what I do or don’t do.
Years ago in another forum community I was an active member who was actually given mod status. I didn’t get paid and I didn’t have full admin priviledges but I could do things like edit and delete posts and what not. It worked out pretty darn well. Of course my temperment is somewhat conducive to that kind of role.
From TC’s words it sounds like World’s plan will not come to fruition and that’s fine. I do think the small minority of trouble can largely be controlled thru the current system and as aforementioned by not feeding them.
Also I think it was World who asked/questioned TC’s gear knowledge. TC knows a lot more than I do about the gear game and humbly speaking I know a dam lot.

That’s good to hear about TC. I just had no idea about his knowledge regarding gear since it seems it never gets mentioned anymore in the articles and whatnot. I kind of figured he would, but you just confirmed it.
