I like the feeling of being on proviron, even as a standalone. Obviously it’s not going to produce much muscle gains, but the estrogen inhibition and SHBG bindage are nice. What do you guys think of using it permanently? Even if I were to quit, I don’t see how it would be much of a recovery.
by Bill Roberts - Proviron, an anabolic steroid, is particularly interesting. I suspect that it not only acts as an antiaromatase but in an unknown DHT-like anti-estrogenic manner. This might involve estrogen receptor downregulation for example. In any case, aromatase inhibition and/or Clomid don??t seem to give the same effect on appearance and muscle hardness as when Proviron is included.
This drug has good binding to the androgen receptor, but in muscle tissue most of it never reaches the androgen receptor because it is enzymatically converted to the diol. Thus, it is not an effective anabolic. It is somewhat effective as an anti-gyno agent, however, and appears to reduce estrogenic bloating if that problem exists.
Proviron reduces either levels of estrogen or the effect of estrogen. Thus, it is useful for avoiding gynecomastia, although it probably should not be relied upon as the sole drug for that. It is not hepatotoxic. It has the usual side effects of anabolic/androgenic steroids, with the added effect that it is particularly prone to cause erections.
Mesterolone is the chemical name of active ingredient in Proviron. Proviron was a registered trademark of Schering AG in the United States and/or other countries prior to cancellation.
Maybe this info will help out a bit.
Personally perm dosing doesn’t sound like a good idea.

I don’t like to make recommendations to use anything permanately. On a side note, it is pretty close to pure DHT and in theory could be a form of HRT, come to think about it, it is used in England, I believe, for HRT. I could see the rational of using it as a DHT replacement/additive. ~~~Of note: I personally use Masteron, which is very similar to Proviron, all year long with Proviron instead at times or as well.
How much are /were you taking and did u experience some type of problems?

These post are from 12 years ago. Check out the T-replacement section as there are a few folks using Proviron regularly. Many of the previous Finasteride users that have long term issues try it out as well so you could search there too.
Only qualm I have about proviron is the potential for lipid fuckage, given it’s inactivated within skeletal muscle tissue (and presumably cardiac muscle too)… direct AAS mediated cardiac enlargement barring secondary effects like HBP may not be an issue… so I’m not recommending this as we have virtually no knowledge regarding the implementation of a combination of mesterolone +
Test long term… if one can keep lipids under control it’s safer than say running mast long term
FWIW iv been using proviron for a few months I switched from regular mast use to proviron use mainly for the reason of not having to inject more oil. I enjoy proviron much more it doesn’t effect my lipids I use 50mg/day
