Peri-Workout

Hey everyone,

I was a naughty boy and posted my question twice on thibs Q&A forum unknowingly preventing me from getting an answer so i thought id ask here in the mean time.

What’s people’s opinion on using a maltodextrin/dextrose mixture (50g) in 750ml of sugar free cordial (its a flavouring you add to water for people who aren’t in australia, i think its like americans ‘crystal lite’) + about 20g of BCAA during your workout?

Bearing in mind I’m 80kg (175 pounds) and about 9% BF and looking to add some size.

Should it be kept to simply PWO only to spike insulin for protein absorption or is this option fine? I’ve found its given me a bit more energy in my workouts…

Also, although I’m aware you want to limit spiking your insulin on a regular bases, would it be a silly idea to supplement in some malto/dex first thing in the morning with my shake and breakfast to ‘kick things off’ or am i effectively just going to be adding shitty calories?

Cheers everyone

I drink powdered gatorade/whey/creatine during my workouts. I love it.

Comes out to a tablespoon of gatorade, one scoop of whey. I drink half the mixture by the end of my second set of the day and finish the rest of it by the end of my workout.

The carbs give a great pump and I figure the whey I’m getting during the workout just extra protein for the day. Nutrient timing is largely overrated in my opinion. Just get the amount of calories you need and you’ll grow.

I’ve done both what the OP is asking about and what bonez is doing…worked fine for me on both accounts.

almost same here.

Gatorade+whey but I think I use around 3-4 TBSP of gatorade.

then I do Surge+creatine PWO. helps get in more calories during the day

I did this combo for years and it works ok, but lately I’ve become a huge fan of Surge Workout Fuel.

Check out Surge® Workout Fuel Gives a Lasting Reactive Pump You Can See and Feel – T Nation Biotest.

You won’t be sorry.

You posted twice in Thib’s Q&A??? Im not going to answer you either then…

Sounds fine. As everyone else said as long as your overall calories/macros are in line, this should be fine.
