Life had just begun but now I’ve gone and thrown it all away
mama oooohhhh oooohhhhh…
Shut up.
Bwahahahaha…
Just for fun because this turned in to a thread about insurance and not the healthcare industry, California is seeing many claims turned away or denied in the fires.
The linked article discusses State Farm specifically.
The overarching premise is discussing angry sentiment that State Farm dropped a bunch of policies over the summer, and people are undoubtedly railing about the whole greed thing (as if State Farm had a crystal ball and knew there would be a massive fire in January).
Fortunately the article does discuss some nuance, and with information from this thread it is pretty easy to decipher the big picture.
For example, State Farm made the decision citing increased risk and an inability to meet financial demand (fiduciary responsibility) given balance sheets.
Before cancelling policies, they petitioned California to allow a rate hike making up the difference in their money in/money out ratio - which is also regulated by the govt even though it’s not specifically discussed in this article.
California evidently said no. Probably in an effort to “serve the consumer” via govt regulated price controls, but reeking of the same oversight as a lack of water and forestry management.
So State Farm dropped policies, because they had to.
For the record, they would’ve sent notice with ample time for homeowners to find a replacement policy.
In this case it’s not doctors but govt forcing hands, then stepping out of the way.
How do you fight it?
By understanding the whole picture and attacking the root cause.
Cost leaders, overreaching govt et cetera. Interestingly govt was both, by not managing forests or water availability in addition to the above discussion.
Regulation is usually well intended but often not well delivered.
The thing is, they did know within a small margin of error that there would be, which is why they and virtually all major insurers pulled out of the region.
No way they pulled out of such a huge market based on womens intuition or any other hunch type ideations.
I’m not necessarily upset about it though. While an analogy can be made to health care, it doesn’t contain the same charge. Nobody would have died if they didn’t live in the Palisades, and that entire region of the US is in fact known to be a synthetic environment that was and for any foreseeable future will be airid/desert.
The implication they foresaw this event and pulled the plug maliciously is false, though.
It’s true they constantly assess risk through statistical models. Then they adjust premiums to reflect risk, per govt mandated and enforced ratios.
In this case, they attempted to increase premiums to match risk, which would’ve been communicated at renewal, but California’s Department of Insurance blocked the measure. So they dropped the policies instead.
They’re catching the brunt of dissatisfaction, but it truly wasn’t them.
Ah, this. People love to assign malice to these things.
I don’t think it was anything other than straight business. The numbers don’t lie, and all of the other factors (foresty practices, wind patterns, risk of fire) were well known.
Yeah. They 100% calculated risk and took steps to mitigate when they were denied the ability to cover first.
This says all I need to know about your character. You are either catastrophically stupid, or just plain evil. I work in the health care industry, do I deserve to die? Be honest. And if so, I invite you to do it yourself, I will not resist you, just film it.
I am sure you must have evidence that this guy is singularly responsible for people not getting proper healthcare. Please present your evidence, if you can convince me of his personal evil, then you get a pass.
All I wish for you, is that you receive what you give.
You’re talking about a country that covered up systematic gang rape and abuse of young girls, specifically because the victims were white, to protect the image of their leftist ideology. They did not want to protect young girls because it might look bad if they arrested illegal immigrants.
The depravity this demonstrates about those who posses this cult ideology is pretty disgusting.
Don’t worry, I am certain @castoli1971 is 100% on board with the government cover up. As it protects the ideology he holds so near and dear to his heart that he celebrates the death of an innocent man who had a job he didn’t like. So, there is no bottom to this depravity.
Crossing threads but a perfect example of why trusting govt to keep our best interests (because govt presumably knows better than the people it serves) is a horrible idea. Entire populations have been led down some pretty dark paths due to force of govt.
I can’t imagine the scenario discussed here.
And how cucked are the citizens? If govt was failing this bad, it would be cowboys and Muslims. I can’t understand being so far removed from self that there wasn’t an uprising.
Are you talking about Brian Thompson? If he didn’t like his job why didn’t he quit? Because he loved the millions. So much so that he headed a company who purposely made people suffer and die so that he could ultimately make mo money, mo money and mo money. Killing people for profit sounds like a noble line of work. Like I said before he would have numbers that would make a serial killer blush.
And what ideology are speaking of? And who exhibits that on capital hill?
So why do you worship an economic system that stresses profit over everything? Anything for another buck. To hell with consequences, there’s another sports car waiting for me. The cult of capitalism.
Do you make decisions that make others suffer and sometimes leads to their death? If so, then yes you deserve to die. The world would be a better place without people like you.
Does one have to be singularly responsible for death to not facilitate it?
What method would you use to allocate healthcare resources?
He’s talking about you not liking his (brian thompson’s) job.
I’d call you a nimrod, but that was a pretty poorly constructed sentence.
Therefore, you’re both nimrods.
