Crysis was an interesting game and will test out your PC’s graphic capabilities.
I was just about to suggest that.
Want to test it’s limits? Give Crysis a shot.
We have a winner!
Bought Crysis a bit ago, after 30min of loading I played it for about 30min, really cool game, so far I like it a lot. Default settings are running on high, next time I play it I’ll bump it all the way to see if the PC will hold up.
Thanks again everyone, can’t wait to play this game some more.
Played a bit again last night and kicked it up to max settings on all, run flawlessly, it could get harder later.
Cool, what’s the spec anyway?
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550@2.83GHzx4
4 gig ram upgradeable to 8gig (coming soon)
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT video card (upgradeable to 2)
1 terabit HD
24’ Samsung LCD monitor
It may not render “A Toy Story 3” in 5 minutes but it’ll run the hell out of a video game, which other than surfing porn is all I’ll ever do on it.

Wait… 2.83 quad core and you only put a single 9800GT in there?
I know, keep in mind, this PC was built by my wifes company for her to work on, not for me to play games but it’s still pretty strong IMO. I’ll add another 9800GT down the road and the other 4 gigs of RAM.
I mostly use my laptop anyway.
Sorry to have misled some of you, hadn’t looked at the specs until today, I guess what the guy who built it thinks is bad ass and what some of you hardcore guys think is different, my bad.
Call of Duty series, FEAR series, Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Bioshock 1 and 2, , Left 4 Dead, Half Life series, Dead Space.
Crysis maxed with full AA should make your PC cry. (And your eyes too).
You can also tweak Crysis past the stock settings to make it unbelievably close to reality.

1 terabit HD
You might mean terabyte HDD
9800 is strong enough for most games. Pulls down a hell of a lot less power than the 2xx series too.
To be honest, what is the point of having a terabyte? That just seems wasteful…
It is not wasteful if you use it. I have 3 terabytes and use it to store a growing library of HD movies, lossless audio (around 50mb per song), Program suites (up to 17gb each), ebooks and everything else.

I am an enthusiast though.
I didn’t factor in HD movies, I was just thinking that I share a comp with my sister and between all of our songs and computer programs there had to be a lot of space taken up. But we dont have anywhere near a terabyte…
But Im guessing that HD movies, and movies in general have to take up quite a lot of space on the pc.

Fair enough. What I was getting at was that people use their computers for different things. I have friends that have 40gb hard drrives ? but since all they use the PC for is school assignments and a couple of games, its all they need. My music collection is around 370gb alone.
I have 4 cores running at 3.83ghz, and 8gb of of ddr3 RAM clocking in at 1600mhz. Most people would call that overkill, and for the average person, it is. But for the things I use it for, its perfect.
Also another great series is Age Of Empires. Classic. (Only good online though).

Yep, this is the big one. Especially if you use a file/media server in your home and stream to your TV and other devices. Much more effective than hunting down a disc in a large catalog of movies, and kids can’t scratch them. I don’t have kids yet, but I’ve heard DVD’s/BRD’s don’t last long with a few munchkins running around. Buy a few TB HDD’s, RAID 5 or 6, and you’re good.
Making disc images can take space in a hurry too; I have a few dozen iso’s of programs that I use/install frequently so I’m not always swapping out discs. Very convenient for when you have to wipe your OS too which I do often for machines at work. Luckily we have a sever with 4.5TB of space there… tasty.
