You may be absolutely correct–Palumbo’s point might have been that Palumboism is secondary to aging whilst (did I use that correctly?) one is carrying (or carried in the past) a massive amount of muscle. But if that’s the case, then it’s not simply a function of aging, as suggested by @Lonnie123’s stated interpretation of Palumbo’s explanation.
Obviously, I should watch the video as Lonnie suggested. But he said the relevant segment lasts ~90 seconds, and who has that kind of time?
what we need is a natural bodybuilder to get up to 270lbs on stage so we can watch how he ages. Right now the only dudes we have that size are the drug users which confounds our variables.
@robstein we’re going to need you to hit a serious bulk this off-season.
I was 270#+ at one point, and completely natural–assuming Coca Cola, pizza and McDonald’s are considered ‘natural’ (which I realize is subject to debate). And while I didn’t get on a stage, I’m confident that if there were steps accompanied by a sturdy handrail, and a plate of cookies to serve as an incentive, I could have done so.
I’d like to set up a sort of ‘house of cards’ argument and then pose a question.
(1) If we can agree, for the sake of argument, that Palumboism’s cause is highly correlated with egregious drug use
AND
(2) If we can agree, for the sake of argument, that bodybuilders sort of ‘backed off’ the dosages in the past decade or so
AND
(3) If we can agree that the regimen implemented at Oxygen Gym in Kuwait utilizes extremes with drugs, food, and training,
THEN
Does anyone think that the Camel Crew/Oxygen Gym folks are candidates for developing Palumboism in the future?
