Thanks man.
I was looking at the Alice packs the other day. How much would you say is a good price on them?[/quote]
did you look at the link i posted? you can the whole pack and ‘buy it now’ for 21 bucks dude.
the straps in the other link are 34 bucks. but imo definatly worth it.
I think your pack hangs too low and away from your body, so your shoulders are being pulled back. when you have your pack on, bend down at your hips and get the pack higher to your head, and then tighten the shoulder straps EVENLY; after that’s done tighten your hip strap as tight as it goes and then stand up.

Yea, I clicked the links. Thanks again.
The reason why I ask is that the crazy lady at my Army/Navy store wants $75 for an Alice pack that she has in the store. I tried talking her down but she wouldn’t budge. Then she whipped out a catalog that had a nice selection of packs and most of them were over $100. I’m not spending that kind of money and also don’t need all the bells and whistles that come with some packs that drive up the price.

haha yeah.
between the ruck and the straps you shouldn’t be paying more than 60 to have it all shipped and yeah.

x2…I used to ruck weekly before I became a fat ass, and once or twice a year ruck all the way to Havasupai Falls. Never had a problem with the shoulders.
Then I became smart and now my pack weighs 10-15 lbs for a week long hike.

Blame it on the weekend warriors. Army surplus used to be where military guys would sell of their equipment after getting out. Now, Army surplus is really just a store that buys their stuff from the suppliers.
