Over 35 Lifter Seeks Advice on SERM

Age 36
height 5’9
weight 185

bench 265
squat 375
dead 490

basically my doctor is willing to prescribe me TRT, I still plan on having children so i don’t want to go on the long term T replacement. I’ve heard/read you can get a T boost by taking a serm or AI.

would i be wasting my time to go on Toremifene only? or should i also be looking for T replacement? Is Toremifene a long term solution (something i can stay on) or is it something i would have to cycle off?

alot of dumb questions, i have read all the sticky’s and much around everywhere, but there is almost too much information.

i occasionally compete in raw powerlifting in a 168lbs class (for fun, as you can see by my numbers i’m not very competitive), it is random drug tested, and serms and ai’s are on the prohibited list. How long would i need to be off of toremifene to pass a drug test does anyone know?

thanks if advance for any help

This would be better suited for the TRT forum…you are looking to improve performance and get a little boost, not address health issues

You are right, i am looking to get a bit of a performance boost.

my original post got a little side tracked with background information (i’m a bit adhd)

the reason i originally went to the doctor was because of a myriad of symptoms related to low T (apparently), it was initially hard to diagnose since i also have crohn’s disease. did a myriad of blood work tests (originally for vitamins and such) and end result is the doctor says my T is well below normal range. Hence why he is willing to prescribe me for trt. Since i plan on having children in the next couple years, i am looking for a way that won’t mess up my natural T production (what little i have left). I read a thread on here quite some time ago about using toremifine to “reboot” or “restart” natural t production. I guess this is what my original question was meant to be. Does the toremifine “restart” work? are there any risks? is there any more information about it? I tried but couldn’t find the thread i remember reading.

This should have said “Steroids forum”. My mistake.

OP has clarified the post, so let’s see what we can do here.

OP: Check out the advice for new guys sticky. To really give you meaningful advice, we need to hae a picture into your bloodwork levels, injury/health history, etc.

There is a template in that sticky that will make it easier.

SERMs are hit or miss and depends if you ar eprimary or secondary hypogonodal. If you are primary (your nuts aren’t capable of producing T) then a SERM will not work. If you are secondary, you have some options.

Check out that sticky and add to your introduction/profile/bloodwork to this current thread so we can see what you’re working with.

Ok, I will try to get my bloodwork results when i see the doctor next week (he never gave me results, only told me that my T was low) as for the rest i will post it here.

In your case/thread opening post:

i was on nitroglycerin because the doctor thought it might help with my crohns (it didn’t).
i took accutane as a teenager which is what initially triggered the crohns.
