It’s a self serving award ceremony. It’s the academy that votes, not the box office receipts (loved the analogy about the clown picture). If it was based on popularity or if the movie goers voted, then you would see Harry Potter movies nominated. But then you would also see the Beverly Hillbillies and Taladega Nights nominated.

Oh my mistake you’re right… But still… Goodfellas man. Alot of the Harry Potter movies are Oscar Worthy and that fucking score. Cmon, you know it’s catchy.
Here’s what I put on the other thread… OP said some shit about Point Break, and that’s crossing the motherfuckin’ Line son.
"I’ve yet to see Hurt Locker, Avatar too for that matter.
But talking shit about point break? That just makes zero sense.
Johnny fucking Utah jumped out of a plane without a chute! When he lands oh Bhodi all Bhodi could say was “damn you’re a radical sonofabitch!!”
nowadays there’s Baldwin brothers doing it on tv commercials, but back when that movie came out it was insane.
As for the production of the show…
Baldwin and martin aren’t no Martin and Lewis. They did ok but they weren’t used to each other and it showed. The Oscar program itself gets a C from me, moreso because every actor who got up on stage to present or recieve took the role of humble reverence for the “craft” waaaay to over the top."
When I see the Oscars, post “Tropic Thunder” it’s pretty ridiculous. I’ll still tune in every year though, because I love movies and seeing clips from stuff I never would have went to see or rented otherwise.
No Country for Old Men is a good example. That shit wasn’t on my radar at all until the Oscar buzz of '08 started. And that movie is one of my all time favorites.
