Osama Bin Laden Dead

Under what politico-historical conditions did we do that?

If you think that’s disturbing, here’s this news from last week’s WSJ about Pakistan trying to sway Afghanistan against building ties with the US, but urging them to instead ally themselves with Pakistan and China.

â??The pitch was made at an April 16 meeting in Kabul by Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, who bluntly told Afghan President Hamid Karzai that the Americans had failed them both, according to Afghans familiar with the meeting,â?? the newspaper said. â??Mr. Karzai should forget about allowing a long-term U.S. military presence in his country, Mr. Gilani said, according to the Afghans. Pakistanâ??s bid to cut the U.S. out of Afghanistanâ??s future is the clearest sign to date that, as the nearly 10-year warâ??s endgame begins, tensions between Washington and Islamabad threaten to scuttle Americaâ??s prospects of ending the conflict on its own terms.â??

Lets hope we don’t end up with a war going on in yet another Middle Eastern country.

I really like the way you think. If most people only knew(I guess they missed the analysis and reports for the last 10 years) the amount of resistance that Pakistan has put forth on behalf of al-quaida, they would be wondering why we weren’t launching on Pakistan.

They have been doing everything within their means since this began to thwart our efforts to take down Bin Laden. I would bet that if Pakistan wasn’t nuclear capable we would have had him in Tora Bora.

That aside,
It is a wonderful occasion that such an asshole has been wiped off of the face of the earth.
It’s just a shame that we can only kill him once.

First thing that came to mind when they read Former Pres. Bush’s statment, which was no doubt written in crayon…

hello?

Correct. I read it somewhere that his death was announced on may 1st but who knows how to track that info down, doesn’t really matter. Technically Bin Laden’s death could be May 2nd depending on when it actually occurred in that time zone.

This thread stopped updating for me and it makes me sad, and I am posting anyways because it’s still awesome.

Where are you getting your news from? From all accounts this was a joint U.S.-Pakistani operation.

Thanks Skyz. Thinking about Afghanistan, Pakistan, and China as allies doesn’t give me a warm fuzzy either. Like most Americans after 9-11, I supported us going into Afghanistan. I wasn’t so sure about Iraq. I’ve thought for a long time, that they are so stuck in the middle ages, we’re unlikely to see a good outcome there. I hate to see us involved on yet another front, but the hostility by Pakistan is scary. And, lets not forget all the recent action in Libya. This thing doesn’t seem to be settling down anytime soon.

Very, very funny Gregron!

The real winner is Keynes- another war, this time on a clear enemy: Pakistan, one with nuclear capabilities, and lots of money itching to be spent.

USA USA!!!

Why would India or even the U.S try to get into pakistan when there are other countries with the same amount of resources without nuclear weapons?

Why do you think the U.S is in Lybya, Iraq and Afghanistan when countries like Ethiopia, Niger and Haiti are rotting in filth and poverty? Do you really believe it is because of terrorism and for the protection of American soil? Does it make sense that the U.S in in major debt yet they won’t pull troops out of Iraq even thought Saddam was killed years ago?

Yep, looks dead to me.

Yay accidental citizen journalism.
