Actually, I heard a vicious little rumor with some carry to it. Apparently, the motherfucker’s been dead for six months but Obama was just waiting for a slip in the polls to make the announcement.

Bin Laden has been a figurehead and recruiter for the ‘terrorist’ cause for so long, his ability to incite response from his people/followers through his speeches was something that had never existed in those people at that level before.
He was more than just some face of the enemy.
There’s always another shepherd to tend to the flock. It would be foolish to think that they didn’t plan for the day Osama got his ass blown off.
Obama has never seemed so bad ass. The speech was full of dominance.
Momentous occasion. Can anyone think of a more celebrated death in the western world?
Being a New Yorker, I am EXTREMELY Glad he’s dead, but the creation of a Martyr is a dangerous event so time will tell. But for right now I’m so glad he’s dead and i think Every New Yorker should get the chance to skull fuck his bullet wounds, (cuz I heard they shot him in the head).

I’m not saying it’s the end of the war on terror or anything. But to act like it isn’t a significant blow to the effort of the Al-Qaeda organization is laughable. The organization itself is a collection of smaller ‘factions’ that were held together by a singular cause they had instilled in them by a leading voice. Zwahiri is still alive to lead them as a sort of military, but their voice that recruited them, and held them together through a singular purpose is gone.
Have you ever actually read some of his speeches? The dude would’ve been Winston Churchill if he had a different set of beliefs. In fact, to his people that’s what he was. An iconic leader of men.
Someone will step in to take his place but if they could do as good a job or better they’d have already been doing it.

Based on the demonstrations and the call for freedom from ‘the people’ in the area…
Not much short term, but it is just another step in the right direction, the direction where people are free to live there lives as they should be allowed to.
I hope this is correct and it does move in the right direction, just in a few short months we’ve seen major changes in the Middle East and North Africa - let’s hope it’s a sign for better times ahead.

The real question is, when are they gonna tour Osama’s body around the US? If they can do it for The Godfather of Soul (James Brown) they can do it for Bin Laden’s sorry ass.

I agree with Maximus and let me say something here. Osama Bin Laden was just a huge preacher and disciple of the jihad fundamentalist Islam movement. This movement is WAAAAAYYYYY bigger than Bin Laden, where they are teaching young boys about 6 yrs old that killing Jews and infidels will give them a VVVIP pass into heaven (hence the reason for 9/11). Bin Laden is dead and gone, but this movement is very much alive and is very capable of biting the US and by extension the whole world in the a$$ again sooner than we might think.

I think the reaction of the people on the street on the Middle East will tell us just how big of an impact bin Laden’s death will have on al Qaeda’s viability. I don’t expect terrorists to just crawl away and give up. This is a major, major victory, but this does not end the war on terror in any way at all.
The real threat to al Qaeda is not the removal of bin Laden but the removal of safe havens for terrorists to congregate. It’s also an improvement in the overall living conditions in the Middle East so that impressionable, zealous teenagers from poor families aren’t so easily lured into al Qaeda with promises of better opportunities and so forth.
I think what will happen is that some in the Middle East will treat this is a bad thing and others will rejoice, and there will be some sort of clash between the two in various countries throughout the region. I also expect there to be some sort of anti-Pakistan sentiment that explodes over there as well. They already hate Pakistanis in most of the Middle East and even the insinuation that the Pakistanis were harboring him might set that off.

This is my concern.
By killing him, did we just fuel the fire for their cause? These people play for keeps, and I don’t want to think we turned that prick fuck into a martyr.
I don’t want to bring down any joy, I am glad he is done like dinner.
And remember…
ALL OF YOU WERE ON T-Nation WHEN IT HAPPENED !!!
Bet none of you will forget that.

Good - and then let’s bring all our troops back from all these stupid fucking countries where we have no business and the medieval monkeys there don’t appreciate our presence.
For every action there is a reaction. The more we stick our dicks in the business of these mid-east psychotics the more it will come back to haunt us.
Just my opinion but I think we’re gonna see some scary shit, ala Beslan massacre, happening right here. The troops should be protecting US and not the clowns across the planet.

Stay classy champ.
Holy shit.
FYI for the non-Americans that read this, we are not all ass ignorant as this.
Wow.

Yeah - you’re right. I don’t wish to offend those backwards cavemen in Iraq and Stan that are blowing up our 18 year old soldiers and cutting peoples’ heads off for fun. Don’t forget what the psychos in Paki routinely do to females, too.
Wait till these Islamo-fascists and psychotics visit a mall near you with an AK or a bomb.
How do you think these beasts are gonna react to us killing their dick-in-chief?

By carrying your logic to its natural conclusion, the best way to fight terrorism is to simply let them do whatever they want in the hopes that if we work really hard at not pissing them off they won’t come after us in any way.
Hahahahaha. Dude what if Alpha killed Bin Ladenn?
