Origins (Atheist view)

“keep in mind an Atheist can PROVE that God does not exsist… Agnostic does not know and thus does not care to ask the question.”

-Why would we keep in mind what is not true?
-Since when can the athiest prove god doesn’t exist?
-An agnostic doesn’t say he doesn’t know, he says one CANNOT know - big difference.
-Whether or not he cares to answer the question says nothing of his agnosticism - if one is smart, they’ll ask it, because it is a good question!

Isn’t it possible that the atheists and theists are both wrong? Maybe it’s time to get the deities out of our philosophies.

As I see it, there are three factors to consider: 1) the universal physical laws that we understand through mathematics, 2) the physical manifestations of those laws we interact with as matter, and 3) an organizing force that acts contrary to entropy, allowing matter to organize and form life. We’re here because the very nature of the universe is to allow us to exist.

You don’t need to enslave people to a specific religion to understand this trinity. Ultimately, religion is an invention of man, and mankind has a pretty poor track record for its inventions.

In the meantime, we can continue to progress towards understanding the 3 factors above until we DO understand how the universe came about. It’s a big place, so I don’t expect an answer any time soon.

yorik - good points, but I don’t know how they substantiate the latter part of your first question: “couldn’t…athiests be wrong?”

RSU sorry for the delay, I was on vacation and didn’t have time to check out the forums.

I base my thoughts and opinions and thiories if you will on my experiences. My experiences include tons of reading of materials of all kinds. Personal experiences, Life experiences and interpretations of others experiences.

We are in a time now when there is so much information about everything “The Information Age” as some would call it, that I believe humans are on the verge of a jump in evolution, one similar to any of the jumps seen throughout our evolution from apes, for those of you who believe in evolution that is.

I am not sure what this jump will be but it seems that we are using our current human bodies to thier maximum, for the experiences we are having. As little as 200 years ago, Life was not much different for 90% of the worlds population than it was 1000 years ago. People generally didn’t move around much, did what thier parents did, and society spread out from millions of nuclear families. Today the world is mixing together so fast and so much information is being processed every day. People are learning new things at a breakneck pace compared to even 100 years ago. The stress levels of people should tell us that our bodies are being pushed as hard as they can.

Now I do have some theories as to what might change in humans a few generations down the line. And may have already started in our youngest generations, or perhaps to some extent in our generation, 20-40 yr olds.

Now for any one that believes you have a spirit, then this might make sense to you. It will definately make sense if you think all things have a spirit, or in my terms, a non-physical connection to god or the source. I think that probably one improvement will be a better more clear connection to our source or spirit. Take an animal for instance, there is no doubt that my dog has some type of spirit, She has a personality and she reacts to things in such an alive manner that it IMHO cannot simply be electrical wiring of her brain. She shows emotions etc… ok but her level of emotion and spiritual connection is much less than mine is.

So our next step in our evolution might be an even better connection to our spirit, more divine intelligence if you will, This will require our brains to either become slightly larger or slightly more efficient.

Again there are probably humans alive who would fit this bill, I think they will shift toward the norm and there will be even higher levels above those. Maybe these new humans will be able to more fully understand the spiritual side of our existance much like we have learned about our physical world in the last 200 years. I don’t know for sure (obviously) but I feel it very strongly, call it a gut feeling.

V,

The electrical wiring cannot account for personality? WTF are you talking about? Why not? You are simply basing this on your feelings, because you cannot or are unwilling conceive other solutions. A few wires can exhibit some pretty complex behavior pretty quickly.

Opinions & feelings are worthless when they lack any education.

I clearly stated this was my opinion. I see no problem in having an opinion. Sorry if it came off like I was stating a fact.
