I am in no way taking away from what she has done. It is really kind and I have no complaints about that. My point is this: I feel like donating to charity should be done out of love/compassion/selflessness, not just so you get bitching rights. That kind of takes away from it all and I just can’t agree with it. I mean, really. She is throwing a tantrum, plain and simple. Over an overpriced bag. Ridiculous.

Well, she is a girl.
And they be crazy.
So true. The only way I’d ever be willing to pay that much for a bag (given that I had the cash), would be if it was made of bacon.

I am not going to hate on Oprah here because most of us in this country are on antidepressants due to their horrid “upscale” lives in comparison to real third world countries.
talk shit about Oprah AFTER you donate as much as she does to charity.

I’m pretty sure I’ve lived in experienced life with dirt floors. Sure it was solid, but only because it was New Mexico clay. Holes in the roof, my 3500 square foot house has holes in roof right now.
I’m way too intelligent to play with my intelligence. What you tryin’ to tell me? What I’m saying is not irrelevant. I gotta go to work.

It’s a good thing I don’t live where in-n-out exist. But I do have relatives on the west coast so anytime I visit that is a must visit almost daily.
Can I get a four by four protein style, grilled onions, salt w/ a vanilla shake. Extra chili’s, extra ketch-up.
Oprah does give a lot to charity and that’s great, I just wish she’d not give all the upper-middle class members of her audience things all the time…I know her sponsors pay for it, but it would be great if they all found receipts for donations under their seats ratehr than hand blenders or watches.

These aren’t 1stworldproblems… more like Eliteworldproblems. It’s like complaining that the saleman won’t let you test drive for the 2.4 million dollar Ferrari, your limit is 1.8 million.
My father told me when he was younger (like middle or high school) he spent the night over a friend’s house whose basement floor (also his bedroom) was ground. No cement, nothing. I think it was when his family was out West, so it was a bit drier. Meh, people have done it, just part of life.

So being a pompous ass is a privilege that can be bought? Cool.
Most here would be seen the same way complaining about their order made wrong at a fast food place to people who don’t get to eat today.
I would never condone bitching about a fast food order. I have no problem with a patron making sure they get the right order. The analogy just doesn’t fit though. If your fast food order is wrong at least you HAVE something to complain about. In the case of the 2nd link posted, Oprah had nothing to complain about. The shop was closed and holding a private showing. Oprah shouldn’t feel slighted in the least in that case.
I’m not passing final judgement on Oprah or anything. I understand she might have assumed the shop was open and thought she was discriminated against when they didn’t let her in. I’ve been guilty of that kind of shit myself. I’ve honked at people sitting on a red right hand turns only to find out a moment later they were waiting on pedestrians to cross. If I was Oprah it would be in the papers the next day.
The information I have to go by does make Oprah sound like she’s suffering from entitlement syndrome.

You don’t have to rush to defend every single black person in the media. People here are allowed to think what they want. And, what most of us here seem to be thinking is that Oprah has become quite selfish. Just because she has money doesn’t give her the right to break the rules or expect to be treated better than any others would have been. Also, how the hell do you know anything about the lives of those who have posted in this thread? Sometimes you come off as so ignorant and arrogant. Not what was meant. I went to a third world country in the military. In that part of south america it wasn’t part of someone’s basement. There were no basements. Most of those people didn’t have shoes.
No one in America is living like that unless they are homeless.

EDIT: I just now saw that DD said the same thing on Page 1.

Great commercial.
If only Oprah could live for a month with these people, just like they do, without her makeup and her hairdresser and her Hermes handbag and her little Donna Karan skirt and her sandals and her money and her power and her fucking entourage telling her how fucking awesome she is, just live in that little African shack and drink out of a faucet and actually get to know what it’s like to have some real problems (not merely "first world problems), perhaps she would come back a bit more humble.
And less fat, too, probably.
She does A LOT of charity. One of her most well-known endeavours is an entire girl’s school she set up in Africa that she funds.
I don’t think she comes from a privileged background ala Kim K, and she was an anchor/weatherwoman in Chicago before she “made it,” by that time in her mid 30s.
So a fat woman is upset about being denied something? At least Mc Donalds offer happy meals.

I dunno, the big O was probably correct, but the guy could have been a non racist snob, Switzerland is full of them (racist and non-racist snobs). Pretentious f-ing country.

Really? You came in this thread acting like you were speaking for everyone else. The first response to yoy was maybe I had a point…so what was all of that talk for before?
Dude, seriously most of your posts here are about me.
doesn’t that seem a bit strange?
I hate Oprah.
Honestly if all she has to do all day is bitching about minor BS like this she has made it somewhere. (from a financial POV)
Does anybody in here actually watch her show on a regular basis? Just curious.

Are you saying you watch on an irregular basis?
