First off, Go Aggies! (The Utah State ones?¢??¦) Hopefully they can get into a bowl game for the first time since 97. One of the best recruiting classes in school history and a new coaching staff?¢??¦

Pac-10: Oregon. With Legarrett Blount at RB and Masoli at QB, they?¢??ll be the best in a down year for the conference. Washington will be decently improved. And, you gotta throw in some upset over USC now right?

Big-12: Whoever plays defense. Remember last year? sieve Give me OU though. They?¢??ll get KU out of a disgusting B12 North.

SEC: Florida, Period they will play Ole Miss in ATL. The Rebs will be fun to watch however. Houston Nutt is one crazy redneck.

ACC: G?¢??Tech over Team Cheatonatest. (FSU)

Big East: Who the fuck cares?¢??¦ USF with Matt Grothe having a nice, irrelevant year at QB. Get ready for another suckass Orange Bowl. I?¢??ll be watching though?¢??¦

Big 10: Michigan State; no OSU; they get Penn State at home, and I?¢??m from MI so?¢??¦ It?¢??s time that this program comes up clutch for once.

National Title Game
Florida over Oklahoma.

HAHAHAHA! Did you seriously just go there?! I have no idea how you could mention anything about bowl failures after the beatdown you got from Ole Miss this year.

Oh, and it’s a shame you couldn’t put up much of a fight when your undefeated season was on the line in Norman. I mean seriously? It was 65-14 with almost the entire 4th quarter left, before we called it a night. If the first game I mentioned wasn’t enough to keep you quiet, I would have thought this would be.

If those stats were incorrect, you can thank rivals.com… And what’s this rubbin’ up on Bradford’s “stats”? You said it yourself; Harrell’s stats were off the hook, have fun playing in Edmonton or where ever the hell. Remember Gino Torretta? great stats; Heisman winner… Oh and yeah, he also gotta National title too… And I think I saw the dude working at Wal-Mart the other day… Stats aren’t everything. Give me a QB who can win any day over the guy who goes for 350 every game. Tim Tebow=2 National titles. Colt McCoy=3-0 in bowl games. And no, I don’t have a man crush, I go to Utah State for God sake. I also grew up a Michigan fan, you know, the team with the most wins in college football?
Ever.

P.S. War BYU taking down “Boomer Sooner” in Dallas!
Gotta support my current states teams.

That would make perfect sense if quarterback was the only position on the football field.

Also, giving Tebow credit for 2 National Titles is a joke.

you are just mad you are going to get ass raped in Norman.
who cares, did Colt play against FL?
If Colt is so good why did Bradford win the Heisman last year?
tell me

He goes to Utah State. Give him some slack, his team was what, 1-11 last year?
in div 1 AA

Alright, giving Tebow full credit for 2 titles is a little much, however, he did play in some key spots his freshman year.
Why did Bradford win the Heisman? Donâ??t get me wrong, heâ??s not a bad QB. He has good â??stats.â?? Then again, so did Ty Dentmerâ?¦ A Heisman does not fortell a good pro career.
And by-the-way, Utah State is in D1 in the WAC; you know, with Boise State. I think OU knows who Boise State is…

I agree.

So, whatcha think of Kiffin and the vols this year?

I say 8-4 and a Peach Bowl.

Todd Lamerton of Birmingham, Ala., writes: Hey Tim, it amazes me the love that Texas receives from you sportswriters. If you asked the average college football fan how many Big Twelve titles that Mack Brown has won, most people would guess a few. He’s actually won one. People talk about Bob Stoops choking in big games, but he’s won six Big 12 titles and three in a row. Texas hasn’t even been able to win its own division most years with Brown.

Tim Griffin: Todd, the numbers you are relating are correct. The Longhorns have been dominated by Oklahoma in terms of conference championships during the Mack Brown/Bob Stoops era. I’ve always maintained that Stoops doesn’t get the national love he deserves for claiming three-straight conference championships.

Want an idea of how hard that feat is in recent college football?

Since Stoops arrived at Oklahoma in 1999, only two other programs have claimed three consecutive conference championships in BCS conferences: 2003-05 USC and 2000-02 Miami. And in conferences that determine their titlist with a championship game, only two have been able to top what Stoops has done in college football history. Marshall claimed four-straight conference championship games in the Mid-American Conference from 1997-2000 and Florida in the Southeastern Conference from 1993-96. So it’s a difficult accomplishment to achieve.

The “Big Game Bob” moniker might have worn off nationally, but it still fits in the Big 12 as Stoops has made the Big 12 his own playground during his coaching tenure with the Sooners.

I don’t think many fans inside the Big 12’s footprint are discounting what Stoops has been able to accomplish. I think he’s the pivotal figure in Big 12 history at this point.

Give any one player full credit for a National Title is ridiculous…no matter who it is. Tebow deserved basically no credit for the first title. Tebow only deserved some credit for the second one. Florida’s offense didn’t do much in the title game, but when they did it was mostly Percy Harvin.

Why not just drop the 2003 and say “OU Big XII Champions”? I find that more impressive, personally.

Tebow is not a stats guy. He has played minor rolls in Florida’s two most recent title runs. In fact, my Great Uncle Marv could have tossed it to Harvin just as well. Are we agreed now?

OU is a good program. You’d just figure with all of those Big 12 championships they could have won more NC’s other than 2000. I think we can agree that it’s um, a lot better than the John Blake era…

Now for your conference counterparts… It’s time for the Huskers to get back to some option football and bring back the “Blackshirt” D. Texas A&M needs to get back to old form. I’m sorry but, Mizzou and Kansas are just flashes in the pan.

I actually see K-State possibly bringing it back with Bill Schneider. I even take OK State and CU more seriously than the Jhawks and Tigers.
However now, It’s OU and UT Oh yeah, Texas Tech…learn how to run the clock out and play some D.

I love this damn sport…

My thoughts on the rest of the conference-

Nebraska- Should rise to the top of the North soon. I wouldn’t necessarily say they will be “back”, but there isn’t an elite team in the North so they will probably be in the Big XII Championship game fairly consistently, or at least very close.

Kansas- Should be consistently be in the 7-5 or 8-4 range. I think Mangino is a good coach, and they will fight it out with Nebraska for the Big XII North Championship this year.

Missouri- Should be similar to Kansas in the long run, but they will suck this year. I’m more confident these guys will rebound post-Daniel/Maclin/Coffman than Kansas post-Reesing/Briscoe/Meier (mainly Reesing).

Colorado- They could do well, and have some good seasons, but I wouldn’t count on it. I think the above three will be just good enough to keep these guys buried.
Iowa State- Hopeless

Oklahoma- Not much of a discussion needed here for a while.
Texas- Same as above, but notice I put them below.

Texas Tech- I’m convinced that their offense makes it near impossible for their defense to do well. Will consistently be close, but never able to get over Texas or Oklahoma. I’m not sure their system will ever allow them to be more than a “dangerous team”.

Oklahoma State- They won’t be able to put it together enough to get over Texas and Oklahoma. They can put together teams that can pass the ball well, and they can even run the ball well right now, but they never are able to put together the complete team to win this brutal division.

Baylor- I seriously think that these guys could compete to win the North. Maybe not this year, but soon. I like Art Briles as a coach, and they got a great young quarterback in Robert Griffin. Of course, I’ve heard a lot of people say they are on the verge of doing something big and it never happens. This might be the toughest division to do well in so they will probably never do much, but they could possibly be the best team with a losing record. I wouldn’t be surprised if they went 7-5 in Griffin’s junior or senior season.

Texas A&M- Could’ve been good, but they’ve managed to screw things up. They fired their winningest coach (Slocum) who never once had a losing season. Franchione wasn’t terrible, but they fired him too. Last year they lost to Arkansas State, and more importantly Baylor. I don’t see them being much of a factor for several years.

It would be cool to see, but I don’t think it will happen. Also, I am awaiting to see what the Anderson ran Aggies will be like. I will be at the game on September 3rd. Go Utes!!!

This season feels like the 01/02 season, when Miami was coming in off their big winning streak and was a shoe in for the national title, and then again with that USC team a few years later. Both of those years ended up with AMAZING title games, heres hoping history repeats itself(1 because fuck florida, 2 because amazing games are amazing =p).

ESPN will blow FL until FL suddenly loses. It always happens.
see USC.

I’d be completely stoked with that record. I believe we’ll surprise one of the big 4 we play (Ole Miss, UF, Bama, UGA), and lose one we shouldn’t ( AU, UCLA). I hope he gets a QB on board soon. Offensive recruiting isn’t so hot right now.

[/quote]

AU and UCLA should be solid victories for the Vols, both of those teams suck ass, even within the horrible Pac-10.
