I wish I knew I feel like the guy came off as a bully I know a bunch oof people who thought he was uber cool and posted the link to their facebook page
Well, I doubt most people in this thread would tell him to “shut the fuck up” to his face.

You’re right, but not for the reason you think. The reason there are cops standing around seemingly ignoring him, is because it’s a very volatile situation. Telling him to STFU is only going to make a bad situation worse. While he was being an attention whore, he wasn’t hurting anyone or breaking the law.

The reason there are more, then more officers, is to provide a better blanket of security. All footage I have seen has shown people getting way out of hand and police simply doing their job. Why in the hell should there be a 1:1 ratio of cops to civilians? That makes absoultely no sense. If you have a drunk guy, you don’t have one officer to one intoxicated person. You have 6 officers and one drunk guy simply for superiority and control. The cops are there for the same idea, to keep SOME of these idiots from making stupid mistakes.
They are stoned face, and acting like they can’t hear him to not provoke him. That is EXACTLY what most of these protestors want, to provoke an officer into doing or saying something to get them in trouble. All of those officers have done exactly the right thing-- to shut up and do their job.[/quote]
I see where you’re coming from, your post is very reasonable, but this is where I was coming from
From what I have seen, when protests turn violent, it’s usually from a small segment of the protesters. And it basically comes from anarchists who appear to just be opportunists that have found the perfect time to wreak havoc. It doesn’t even really come from the protesters, it comes from separate groups that come in later.
And then they go crazy, bust up a bunch of property, start fires. And the police watch, as does the rest of the nation. The police are probably ordered to stand down - I don’t really know because I’ve never been on the inside to see it, but I bet they would actually get fired for stopping the destruction. And the anger builds up from everyone - the actual protesters, the people who see it on the news, the places of business that get busted up, the people in the city… and also the police.
And then eventually (I’ve see it take days) there is “the crackdown”. The police finally crack down on the “violent protesters”. The reason that is in quotations is because as soon as the police step in, the actual violent ones disappear. So then the regular protesters are cracked down on. And in some cases, its not just the protesters - I have actually seen it be entire segments of the city.

I agree he has a big mouth and you cant really argue with someone unless you’re from where he has been. One of the cops tried talking to him about being in Afghanistan/Iraq and the guy was cool but he was a cop so he had to toe the line.
I do however notice your police are quite heavy-handed way too quickly and the commanders only believe in overwhelming force. People dont react well to being visually provoked by a truck load of cops.
People will react no matter what so its a damned if you do, damned if you dont kind of situation.

Do you really not sense any sarcasm in what I wrote?
Even when I called it a “comprehensive documentary?”
Oh well, thanks for taking the time to write out what I was implying.
The cops were just standing by doing there jobs. Protecting the peace and making sure the protest goes down peacefully. This guy is obviously trying to stir things up. Looks like a little PTSD rearing up. He was borderline disorderly conduct. I wonder if he would act this way if the camera wasn’t there.
