It is my understanding HDL nicked named good cholesterol helps keep your blood vessels and veins clear of sticky plaques. It some how has the ability to not only stop the plaque buildup but remove what is already there.
When you are in your 30-40’s saying 60 something is good enough time to die. Ha! Wait until your 59th birthday you will think much different.
A lipid panel is not very expensive get one the next time you test. With all your exercise and hobbys yours might not be as bad as you might think.
My current anti aging doc is always more worried about my ratio not just the Trigs, HDL and LDL He says keep that ratio in range I don’t really care about the rest.
Already got one, but not due to atherosclerosis.
In here its not such a big deal. Lots of older people have 5-6 of them.
Its actually a 24h procedure - you come in, get it done, next day you are out. Also its free, as my country altho shit in everything else, excels in invasive radiology and cardiology.
Sure, i know that. When i was studying politics, we had a “moral” discussion about - is it better to save a 20 year old or a 70 year old if you have to chose, and the main focus was on the fact that a 70 year old wants to live a bit more just as much as the 20 year old.
I was just saying that in my country, you most likely WOULDNT want it so much as you probably just dont have enough money to even eat. At least at this time and year it is pretty bad. Maybe when im around 60, it will change.
Have you ever considered coming to the US to see if you could make it? Your English is off the charts, I can tell you are not only book smart you are street smart as well. It would be awesome to invite an immigrant such as yourself into this country vs all that are currently coming up from the South illegally.
Some 10 years ago i was interested in that but i found out that there are only few ways to get a citizenship and none of them were realistic.
Now i am too old(soon 32) and i have too much of my time invested in here. Its not that good but at least i am somewhat a respectable middle-class or maybe even above.
In US i would just be another immigrant fighter/trainer moron from nowhere and what scares me the most is that our happiness is not really what we have, but what we have compared to others around us. So even tho i could make a bit more money in US, i probably would end up feeling worse as i would always remain an immigrant and low-class person.
I also have a family - a mother and a grandmother and i am the only male in 5 generations as all our “fathers” and “grandfathers” left their wives. So i have 2 old ladies to take care of, and of course my girlfriend. And a cat
soon to be 32.
Trust me my friend your life is just beginning and it sounds like you have a pretty good start.
I would give my left nut if my mom and grand was still alive.
My best advice stay humble. Think about retiring as soon as possible, save all that you can, F your neighbors never play the keep up game. I assume you are allowed to buy/own a home? That is your biggest expense. Once retired it really cost very little to live day to day.
One day once your family duties/loves are over you might consider a trip over here. Get that fighter/trainer moron out of your head. Go to a big college an apply to teach. With your multi languages your starting pay would be between $65,000US and $125,000US for your first year.
So you are retired from your country and you have come to America as a teaching tourist. Something to really look forward to and work for. I don’t know what you have been told in your country about being an immigrant here but I am pretty sure it is not how you would be treated. So much BS on TV these days. It is people like you that made this country 125 years ago not what is coming up from the South.
Greatly accelerates the rate of plaque buildup. Instead of bearing the brunt of cardiovascular disease at 70, you might experience a stroke at 40 instead (very extreme analogy).
Can’t do detailed response now, will update tonight.
HDL protects against plaque buildup, in laymens terms it absorbs excess cholesterol from the body and flushes it out. Oxidised LDL accelerated the rate if plaque build up. Less HDL/more LDL coupled with excess oxidative stress (use of gear) = an environment highly conducive for accelerated rates of plaque build up. Particulate sizes of HDL/LDL also matter, hence people with familial hypercholesterolemia need to aggressively cut down LDL as an individual with FH on a pharmacological regiment with “borderline” lipids may still be at a higher risk of a cardiovascular event relative to a healthy baseline.
Triglycerides also matter, consistently high levels of trigs in the bloodstream will contribute towards your risk of heart attack and stroke.
The process of atherogenesis if detailed is actually quite complex. If you’d like I can outline that process, but it’d equate to a novel of a post coupled with pictures and medical literature.
The single most preventable cause of heart disease in the world today is tobacco consumption. If you smoke AND use gear it’s a double whammy (kinda a 1+1=3 situation). Otherwise, limit intake of trans fats get your cardio in, use those statins (I can them stootins for comical effect) and whatnot.
I use statins, my LDL is in ok-ish range.
My HDL is low tho. Cardio is at least an EOD thing for me and i do most of it high intensity. At least once a year i do that test where you ride a bike and they see how your heart works under stress, and if they see something weird they send you to do the color in the blood thingy.
So, if my bike-tests come back good, can i hope i wont just drop dead cause of heart issues this year?
