Oil Hits New High

I read that oil has hit the $58.60 mark.

I wish Halliburton would hurry the hell up and open all those Iraqi oil fields!!!

Come on, let’s get that damn price down!!!

If they would just flood the market, OPEC would be forced to respond. Then with all that excess oil, the price would drop.

Wait, I’ve got it, George H.W. Bush is bosom buddies with the Saudi Royal family. Therefore, together, they are working to keep the profits going into Halliburton. It’s becoming clear. Now the real force behind the government, Cheney, can earn more money on his fixed retirement fund.

Again, would someone please do a “documentary” about this “scandal?” If you do, you can earn a seat next to Jimmy “Peanut” Carter at the next DNC convention. You can be applauded as the frenchs’ favorite Anti-American at Cannes.

Just as long as my damn gas prices go down!!!

JeffR

Not sure where your going with this besides blatant sarcasm. Your first two pieces of sarcasm meant to illustrate your opinion that someone who thought the whole thing was an orchestrated “scandal”( and therefore anti-American and nuttier than a squirrel turd) are actually true. Bush is bosom buddies with the Saudi Royal Family. I don’t think even the man himself would deny that one. Point two that they both ahve a marked interest in Halliburton doing well. They both have money invested so why wouldn’t they?

Don’t get me wrong Jeff, I’m not saying there is a scandal but for someone that usually backs up their points well, this kind of seemed like an AlShades type of post.

On a side note I did like your post in the One truth thread–funny shit

Whats worse is that there is probably alot more oil in the ground than we’re led to believe. The claim that oil is just decayed organic matter from millions of years ago is in dispute. Some people actually think that an almost limitless supply of oil exists deep down in the ground and there are regions like Saudi Arabia where this oil gushes in to replace the oil taken out.

After all the germans used to make oil out of coal and hydrogen gas by putting the two ingredients under high pressure in WWII. The tremendous pressure under the earth ought to turn common hydrocarbons like methane into complex ones like crude oil. We really don’t know whats going on under the earths crust because we’ve only drilled 30 of the 6400 ish km down. The fossil fuels theory makes people accept rising prices as a consequence of oil ‘running out’. If everyone believed otherwise, then our rulers would have alot of explaining to do…

I am still amazed that we pay 1.50 for 12 oz of bottled “water”, ( ever notice that Evian is Naive spelled backwards)but complain about gas prices-myself included.

I almost got into a fistfight at the gas station this past week, would have been the first fight I have had in about ten years.

The biggest problem with the Bush administration and the price of oil is that the President, his family and a large portion of his friends are all in the oil business. Any change to the price of oil directly affects their bottom line. This is a huge but always un-mentioned conflict of interest. Right now, the oil industry is recording record profits. They have no desire to see prices drop.

The American oil companies (not just Bush) love to point to the Arabs and anything else they can use to deter the fact they dont want to drop oil prices. Think about it, if you were selling your house, would you decide it was over-valued and decide it would be much better priced if YOU cut the price by $50,000. Don’t expect the oil companies to drop the price either. They are wreaking havoc everywhere and reporting huge profits to the shareholders. They keep boumcing the price between $2.50/gallon and $2.09 so that the “average” person will see $2.09 as cheap. You will never pay below $2.00/gallon again.

A friend of mine works on a rig drilling for oil off the Gulf of Mexico and they drill, find oil, cap it and go find more.
There is no lack of oil. It’s too bad we can’t get them to stop driving it in our ass.

I have never bought into the “dead dinosaur” theory. It never made sense to me. I have heard many times that there are fields that have refilled themselves.

Price is based on simple supply and demand. With China (and others) using much more oil price goes up for everyone.

US gas prices are still a bargain at
$ 2.00 a gallon.

“Whaaa boo hoo…Bush was in the oil business and gas prices are now high. Therefore, being a complete retard I assume that Bush is making money!”

Wahaa boo hooo…

LOL

The neo-cons at the Pentagon wanted to dump Iraq’s oil onto the worlds markets in an effort to weaken OPEC’s control and to decrease the price of oil for American consumer.

The State Department had other ideas. The State Department leaked this plan to the oil companies and they stepped in and put a stop to that.

The oil companys are making so much profit that they do not know what to do with the excess.

The biggest story is the fact we need more oil refineries that can refine the less expensive ‘dirtier’ oil. Texas sweet has an over abundance of refineries while the lower grades of oil can not be refined.

The federal government should push oil companies to build refineries that can process the ‘dirtier’ grades oil into gasoline.

This will not happen as the price of oil would decline as a result and the oil companys like their current income.

LOL,

Bush was not in the oil business, Bush IS in the oil business. There was no conflict of interest in his decision to open the Alaskan Wildlife areas to oil drilling. After all oil drilling has always been ecologically friendly.

In a few months oil will be hella cheap. Gas should actually drop under a dollor a gallon. My friend is drilling for oil in colorado. He was telling me that there is something like 75 trillion
gallons of oil the only problem is that it is incased in a shell of rock. as soon as they can get it out of its shell gas and oil prices will drop tremendously.

The interesting part about liberals is that they try to play both ends from the middle.

If Bus discourages US oil drilling and oil prices go upward he is a bad President.

If Bush encourages US oil drilling he is a corrupt President is somehow (while no one ever proves how) he is making money.

ZEB,

Two questions for you ZEB…

  1. How much oil does ANWAR hold?
  2. Where will that oil be transported and sold?

You will be surpised at the answers to those questions.

Where does your friend think this oil will be refined?

I missed this post the first time.

That is histerical. It will take numerous years to have the infrastructure in place to even attempt to get at that oil.

Not to mention the eviro nuts will never let that happen.

it’s over $59 currently, i watch it live during the trading hours, funny thing is the market does not really care so far, they gapped down the s+p 5 points and then it trades upward.

what we really need to do is implement alternative fuels into society. the technology is there. The energy companies are just trying to milk the world for as long as they can and the US government just contributes to it. The boost to the economy and the regular folk would be tremendous. The fact that ethanol fuel and solar power are not used more is crazy. laters pk

Almost word for word from my original post!!!

Where is the Saudi connection?

While you’re at it, better add in the “Bush is holding binladen for an October suprise.”

After all, Goss has an “excellent idea” where binladen is!!! wink, wink, wink…

Ooo … Ooo I know, I know:

  1. Trillions of gallons.

  2. Directly into a Bush family holding company.

Am I right? Yep…I got it huh?

Now I know why you liberals are screaming about Bush. How could I have been sooooo stupid…:frowning:

Forgive me…

Ha ha, you just don’t get it do you?

Reality has little to do with liberals rich imagination.

They say it’s a fact so it’s a fact…
