Who said this?
I should have said refuses to do it.
To do WHAT?
You could also become a shareholder and make those profits. My modest investments in several oil and oil product companies paid for far more than the increase in price I’m paying at the pump.
@castoli would never lower himself to that level. He will just complain about you doing it, and about the unfairness of market-ish prices.
Venezuela wasn’t a recent enough cautionary tale?
Bump up production to lower costs.
Wow another nuanced argument from another economic ignoramus.
Yeah because there is nothing wrong with it. How is it “market price” when you are dealing with oligopolies?
Illegal is sort of a summary word. My point is that the Biden administration and the Democrat party are trying to kill the fossil fuel industry. They aren’t even trying to hide this. A lot of people lost money on the keystone pipeline when Biden was elected and shut it down. That’s just an example. It’s a bad investment if there is a significant risk that the government will shut it down in a few years and that risk is real.
Frankly, your premise that gas is expensive right now because oil companies are greedy is not supportable. Of course, it’s indisputable that oil companies are greedy. That is how companies work. That is how capitalism works. However, as I am more than two years old, I remember a time when gas was $2/gallon. And oil companies were still greedy then. Oil companies didn’t suddenly become greedy. Thus, I see no logical connection between the greed that has always been present and the $5+ gas that is a rather recent phenomenon.
Yeah, fuck people over as long as there is more profit to be made.
Why was the Keystone pipeline shut down?
OMG just more propaganda. Is that why Big Oil gives campaign contributions, ahem bribes to Democratic politicians who are trying to shut them down?
Quit paying attention to the propaganda narratives. They are lying to you on purpose.
The pipeline had been protested for about a decade. Because there was a lot of pressure put on the Biden admin. and it was shut down doesn’t mean he is hostile against the industry. We are talking about the same jerkoff who stated he wasn’t banning fracking. An odd thing to say if you are trying to stop the industry.
And bingo you’ve just outted yourself to the most superfical aspect of the pipeline. Nevermind the likelihood of pollution and contaminated water. Why should people have clean drinking water when others can make money?
And the company TransCanada tried to exercise eminent domain when landowners refused to grant easements on their property for the construction of the pipeline.
Didn’t address what I said, but I didn’t expect you to.
Can you name anything that the government of the United States controls that is cheaper overall and more efficient than the private sector? Or something that they took over and the overall costs went down?
What criminal code exists for that? So, you are wanting to punish people for being too good at business. Got it.
And what they are doing does not fit under price gouging laws.
Who the fuck are you to decide who has enough. What is your metric for that?
USPS
VA
Any government project
Oh wait…
The federal government wasn’t even able to run a brothel in Vegas without running it bankrupt.
If the government controlled the sahara desert, they would run out of sand
And who the fuck are you to decide that people suffer so that others can profit?
He doesn’t decide that, dumbass.
Nice try.
Answer my question and stop coming up with some absurd question that everyone already knows the answer to.
Again, who are you to decide who has enough? What is your metric for that?
Oh yeah, we are. From our strategic oil reserves.
And these are serious the morons you want to control all our oil? Have you noticed how well government run agencies are functioning right now, if at all?
