What? You guys think your fancy figuring is going to do better than my random finger in the air coin toss player selection criteria?
Heh, you guys couldn’t manage a 7/11 in a lazy suburb much less a baseball team! ![]()

ahhh…I wondered.
What would the logo be? Full on Amish guy with a sneer?

Sorry, I need to amend that last question: Is O-rank based on our league’s scoring system, so that the default ranking basically how valuable each player would have been in our league last year? I think that’s what it means, but it’s not super clear.
The other possibility is that O-rank is a default, 5x5 rank. This will obviously affect how much research I’m doing on Sunday night.
The o-rank is based on Yahoo! head to head league default settings with last years stats…
Hope that helps!

Kuz (or anyone)–so Manny Ramirez is ranked in the top ten overall (I think…or is it top 5 OF? I don’t remember…my head hurts…) but he might not be as good an OF pick as someone like Johnny Damon, who’s not going to go yard as much but can steal bases and isn’t a bad fielder?
You are along the right lines. Manny will give you fantastic Batting AVG, HR, RBI, Runs, OPS and such. Now, in terms of the defensive stats, you need to be a little careful sometimes. The stats we use are not things like Fielding % which can tend to be a better gauge of pure fielding ability than putouts, assists and errors. Some guys have better range and will get more POs, but some might get more POs because they play centerfield. But overall, you are right. It just becomes a matter of balancing all these things out.
Also, a player like Johnny Damon (or even more so, Carl Crawford) are valuable for their steals because premium basestealers are SO damn rare these days. If you have some good basestealers, you might be able to lock up that category mosts weeks versus your competition. That’s why all-around guys like Bobby Abreu do so well. Power, speed, average, etc.
But Manny Ramirez is pretty much kick-ass. The guy is like a hitting savant.

Yeah, that is a funky one. All I can find is the following:
O-Rank - Player’s overall Yahoo! Sports ranking (based on current and prior seasons).
Rank - Player’s ranking based on stat filter selected.

I’m Theogenes, but I’ll probably change the name.
Thanks to Rainjack and everyone else for sharing their time and knowledge.
So it’s based on what the player actually did for the week, is that right?
So…on a team that doesn’t run much, even if the guy can steal bases, he might not get the chance, so maybe the better option would be to take a second tier steal threat but on a running team.
Cause Francona doesn’t like to run much.
Although with Damon and Renteria he may change his approach?
I have T-names matched with team owners for all but two teams.
Will the owner of Demolition and Macho Man Slim Jims please post their T-names. mmmm…slimjims…
I’ve been reading up on the autodraft rules, and in a custom league, once the draft status is set to ready, the draft will occur at anytime within 1 - 48 hours.
So I’m thinking I’ll set the draft status to ‘ready’ Sunday night before I go to bed. That gives everyone this weekend to get your pre-draft player rankings set.
Is that alright with everyone? That way we’ll have most of next week to wheel and deal before the season gets started.
Let me know if you have a better idea.
Injured players are given the max number of points possible to compensate for their injury time so you would benefit the most by drafting them first.
On a lighter note, what’re all you damn Canadians doing here, aren’t there any hockey games or curling tournaments for you to watch?

Wait, you mean Baseball isn’t the one you play with your date? I was so looking forward to playing third base and a record-setting season of home runs…
Does it invlove ice or frigid temperatures? Can I throw rocks in it?
Ah, it must be that one where you hit balls through those little white dealies…

Slimjim, that is COLD picking on the newbies like that. LOL Free T-schwag at any cost might be the theme of this league.

cause I was thinking of picking barry bonds, you know, in case he really does retire or get arrested or something.
If Bonds gets arrested, it’s triple points.

LOL!
The team previosly known as Theogenes is now the N.Y. Knights.
My week 1 matchup should be a breeze, the Bowlturners. Every player on Joe Wieder’s team is going to be either suspended for steroids or drastically overtrained. Keep applying those Wieder Principles Joe.

geez…I thought the bitch slappin and pimp slappin wasn’t going to start until at least after the draft, ya bastard!
It’s not possible. I’ve trained more champions than anyone in the history of the world. There’s a reason it’s the Joe Weider Mr. Olympia and the Weider Principles.
Joe, I’ve got the stolen base category locked up since the Bowlturners uniform is just a pair of posing trunks.
