Obtuse Religious Philosophy

I see you put together another personal attack b/c I don’t sit here all day and play with the quote function to keep up with your nonsense. Yet another empty reply from you. You ARE consistent if anything.
ZEB wrote:

No half remembered statement. I cut and paste your statement about God’s communication. You have yet to respond to it. We’re waiting.
ZEB wrote:
At least that explains why you’ve been avoiding the quote function in earlier posts. It’s just too complicating and confusing - Got it.

Oh, because no one else ever fucked up the quote function on a long winded, line by line rebuttal by the likes of a needle dicking reply artist? Got it.
ZEB wrote:
And you are the guy that has the universe figured to the point where you are certain that a 2000 year old religion is wrong. Right.

I do believe that right there is one of those “logical fallacies” you’re so fond of turning on its head. Are you implying because your religion is 2000 years old that it’s not wrong? LOL Right. So by that logic, all those religions that pre-date yours claim authenticity by age. Brilliant! Further using your logic, we need only go back to the first religion, and claim that as truth! Does that about sum it up genius? Tell me again…who is dim?
ZEB wrote:
But I don’t want to end this post without thanking you for the shear entertainment value that you’ve provided.
I tell you what you apparently don’t want to do. You don’t want to have a discussion. You dropped the discussion right about the time you made that blundering, inexplicable statement implying God’s ability to communicate with us was somehow limited. In fact, that’s exactly where you “jumped the shark” and started with your personal attacks.

And, can you further cloud the discussion any more by bringing up a person that made a pure personal attack about my avatar? That’s what you’re leaning on these days? Priceless!

Let me know when you’re ready to continue the discussion, starting with your defense relative to your statements about God’s ability to communicate with us. We’re waiting.

 - back at ya

It certainly is fun to make up arguments. Like the one where I criticized your size. Cool, you weigh more than I do. And cool if you lift more too. Also cool how you used the “you believe in religion, you’ll believe anything” line when I’m not religious. I’ve been on the opposite side of Deorum this whole time not because I’m religious but because he’s an idiot. I’ve “sided” with the religious folks because they can type complete sentences and I’m fairly certain that they’re intelligent people who just happen to have a different outlook on life than I do: and they aren’t attacking me for it. I asked a sincere question of Zeb and Brotherchris and got sincere answers. That’s a worthwhile dialogue, regardless of whether or not I believe what they do. I’ll sure as hell disagree with them about a lot of other things (politics for one) but I can also take a step back to try and see things from their point of view and get a little perspective.
Oh, I get it now, so you didn’t just merely reply to my statement about your ad hominems, you didn’t take a personal swipe at me either? I must be seeing things. I didn’t realize I made up “this argument”. I also don’t recall using “you believe in religion you’ll believe in anything”. But don’t let that stop you, you’re not quite on a roll yet. And what I did to you was not an “attack”. It was a counterpunch. Learn the difference.
Here’s the reply to the ad hominems. It’s not an ad hominem if his inability to coherently express his thoughts precludes him from making any relevant statement. Lrn 2 argument. Who said I never took a swipe at you? What I didn’t do was say anything about your physique, you just acted like I did cause it made you feel like a big man to criticize me for it. Therefore, you made up arguments in your “counterpunches” (with all that hubris I’m sure you probably fancy yourself a boxer, but your punches really do need some work). You really don’t remember saying “If you can believe in the fairy tales of religion, I guess you can also believe you’re hyooooge”? Weird. You also seem to keep referencing a point in time where I said I was hyoge or something, which I don’t particularly remember doing. You also didn’t get the sarcasm of the use of “brah” in reference to myspace. Also, speaking of hubris, you stated you need no more size. So you’ve hit the pinnacle? You’re the best of the best and have no further aspirations? What the hell are you doing on this site then? You’re set. Get out there and live the hyooooge life.
I’m 46 lil guy. I am bigger than you will ever be (unless you respond to and start taking higher doses of drugs) and I have been stronger than you will ever be. Weightlifting doesn’t pay my bills and any attempt to get “hyooger” would only be a detriment to my health. Never had a myspace brah so I don’t get your references. I’m not a boxer, but I’ve been known to fight. Want to go a round? You near NJ?
I figured it was only a matter of time til you actually challenged someone to a fight.
It wasn’t “someone”. Are you now avoiding eye contact like a dog that shit on the carpet? Didn’t you start this with a personal attack? Yes. Didn’t you make a reference to boxing? Yes. You mad? Yeah, you mad. Brah.
It actually was “someone”. Fuck, does anyone know English? Had I said “anyone”, then yeah, your response would work. But I am someone. I guess these teachers unions really don’t deserve anything because apparently they don’t teach English. I believe it was you who made the first move by displaying your lack of understanding with regard to ad hominem attacks (it would be a lot less work to compile a list of things you do understand). Again, it’s not an ad hominem if one is unable to make a coherent point for lack of education, so don’t even start with that. It’s just calling a spade a spade.

No, actually you cut and pasted what you said and attributed it to me. The only way that you can do this so that you actually have any credibility (if that is even possible) is to cut and paste with the date and time on the post and highlight the section where you claim I said what I said.

Now this is the third time that I’ve asked you to do this. Either do it correctly or admit that I never said it. As I’ve already said, we know you have no respect for logic but at least have some respect for the proper proof. Any idiot can write something down put quotes around it (if they can figure out how to use the quote function) and then claim that another person said it. That’s not how you prove what someone said around here.

Incidentally, you seem to be repeating words that I’ve used. I find that quite odd. At times I feel that all you are is a hollow echo chamber. If I use the word arrogance rest assured at some point in your follow up you’ll use the word arrogance. You’ve done this three or four times now. This is exactly what he does. It’s very creepy. Look at his last response to me. It’s even weirder on the internet where all you have to do is look up a few inches to see the words right before you.

Self Awareness

Loss of Self Deceit

I stopped lying to myself. After you realize you are your own god you begin to stop feeling the need to lie to yourself. You accept things that you previously dismissed based on the fact that it destroyed previously learned philosophies. You build new philosophies from the ash. Birth, and rebirth; The cycle of knowledge - the process of learning. It starts with accepting that you just might be wrong - what you spent your entire life believing… just might not be true. Get rid of the foolish pride holding you back from seeing the truth and build a new pride. Stop allowing yourself to be so fucking weak. Be your own god.

PS The only reason I keep answering you despite your obvious attempts at humor on my behalf is because underneath that, I can see someone who wants to grow. Half the other posters here do not even have that will to grow.

PPS It is totally possible that I am trying to relate some unrelated, possibly nonexistent epiphany with a philosophy that will send any believer straight to hell… Yea…

Thing is, I don't see a need to become my own god. Other, smarter, people before me already hashed this all out. It's something they call religion. So why reinvent the wheel?

Years ago, after personal tragedy, I decided to study all the world religions just to see what was out there as far as beliefs go. At that point in my life I had it with the Christian religion, thinking God had turned his back on me.

After doing the research, i found all the major religions teach absolutely the same thing when you boil them all down. The message just gets lost in semantics.

All religion does is explain why we are in this existence. Why we are in a world so full of hatred, suffering, misery and death.

Religion tells you to respect your mind and body and those of your neighbors and in doing so recieve a better life.

Religion tells you there's enough evil in the world, and the buck stops with you: do something positive to make the world a better place. Religion tells you you will be rewarded for all of your efforts after you die.

It also tells you there is punishment for those who cause evil to other men, by sending them to eternal suffering or by sending them right back to earth to live again.

Religion is also not a science but it was the best people could do before they actually had research. Crap, the Hindu Upanishads read like pre-science scientific method figuring out existence. If religion is a science of anything, it is a science of how to uplift humanity. Any failings is due to the failing of mankind as a whole.

But at least it is there and the homework has already been done. You can embrase it or not, it's your choice. Why deny yourself so much wisdom from through out the ages?

LOL hold on so I’m understanding this corretly okay? You attack my avatar like you’re a 12 year old. I respond in kind. And then you put your hall monitor safety belt on from middle school and start patrolling an interent message board at a BB site for grammar? Is that about right? LOL. I’ll ask you the same rhetorical question I asked Cortes; do you have anything substantive to add to the discussion?

Thing is, I don’t see a need to become my own god. Other, smarter, people before me already hashed this all out. It’s something they call religion.

That was a decent reply except for the fact that religion is generally intolerant of other religions and beliefs and that is illustrated quite clearly in this very thread. For instance, if you do not accept Christ as your personal savior, you are going to hell according to Christianity, irrespective of whether you committed evil or not, and oh wait - you were BORN evil and cannot escape that bondage without accepting Christ.

You forgot those pretty minor details.

I have not agreed that one religion could be right.

This is what you wrote:
If they aren’t all right, then by default, all are wrong except one

And your back peddling notwithstanding, I agree with that statement.

I find it incredulous that the alleged Almighty (as he has been described) has not stayed in contact with us and/or left behind a clearer record not subject to any dispute (certainly possible for the “Almighty” as He has been described.

It is your assumption that a clearer better way is available to God. But, as I said to you in one of our earlier posts God (the Father) spoke to his people directly. Did it help? They still sinned and turned away in droves.

Now that we engaged in this riduculous little game of yours of cutting and pasting with the time, are you denying you stated the above? Let me help you:

“It is your assumption that a clearer better way is available to God”.

I will now reply, again, for the second time, as follows:

Applying the logic and keen eye for mind numbing grammar for the sake of grammar that you appear to rely on in your effort to avoid openly discussing ideas, you expressly used the word “available” in a reply to me about why God does not communicate with us now or, the manner in which your beliefs claims he communicated in the past.

I say again, your use of the word “available” is pretty damn curious and I’d like to hear more about that from you. By stating “available”, you’re are implying that there are means of communication “unavailable” to God. Your doctrine claims that your god is eternal and all powerful, but apparently, applying LOGIC to your statement, some means of communication are not available to God, including leaving a clearer record not subject to dispute and, communicating with us today. This was your reply in response to my statement that I was incredulous that God has stopped communicating with us or failed to leave behind a clearer, indisputable record.

Further applying simple logic, we can conclude from your statement that when God allegedly did communicate with man, that to do so by personal revelation was the only means available to the almightyn (excluding for a moment the claims of the OT; we can ignore the OT I hope, lest we have to consider other spurious claims of communicating with the almighty throughout history with other ancient civilizations). And, continuing with the logical conclusion from your statement, direct communication is no longer an option for God. Is that about right ZEB?? Hmmm?

So, for about at least the 3rd time, I am asking you to explain your statement. God’s very ability to communicate is on the line here. Tell me you have a better reply than challenging me on your preferred quote and cut and paste protocols. Please tell me the Almighty does not hang in the balance of the quote feature. I am anxiously awaiting your attempt worm yourself from underneath this one.

Fetch boy. Now let’s watch real backpedaling
