LMAO. Judging from your posts, I would say that illiteracy is a much bigger problem than HFCS, or big gulps, or round-up ready food crops.
But keep repeating the pablum you’ve been spoonfed, kiddo. At the very least, your detachment from real life provides some comic relief for those of us who have jobs and pay taxes.

I would say GMO are a problem but there are still much bigger problems out there. Obesity being at 35% is just ludicrous.

Fucking A… on most BMI charts I classify as morbidly obese. Can you say disability and the bridal-train of perks that go along with it… where do I sign up?
Rob

Lol. I was thinking the exact same thing. At 6’1" 205 I’m already considered overweight. If I can get up to 228 pounds or more I am officially obese. If you can’t beat 'em, join 'em.
I am morbidly obese. Where do I get my free shit?

If you think this is about Obama and socialism or whatever then you would be wrong. It’s about capitalism and business.
Simmer down, french fry. Attempting to divine my thoughts while I am typing in ebonics/textese is neither wise, nor advised.
This has nothing to do with capitalism. Well, at least not free market capitalism - real capitalism. This is crony-capitalism - the union of an oversized, corrupt bureaucracy and so-called businesses that are nothing more than well-monied vultures feeding at the trough of taxpayer dollars.
Please be a dear and learn the difference between the two.
Actually, I’m not the one who needs to learn the difference. Let’s see if you can figure that out…dear.

Actually, you are. Don’t be so proud of your ignorance.
So… The government forcing its citizens to purchase a product from a mega-industry is “capitalism” now?
Good to know every authoritative economic source known to man is completely wrong, and the posting on PWI have saved us from further embarrassment.

WTF?!?! How? Golden rice was designed to have more nutrients in the same or fewer calories and it does, without question. So much more beta carotene that it’s visible. For the same amount of calories. How does consuming the equivalent number of calories in GMO foods make you fatter? There is no reasonable evidence or theory that even remotely links the pathways engineered into GMO crops with obesity that isn’t predicated on over-consumption. Did we suddenly find a gene that converts ambient energy into usable calories and engineer it into our food? Is it a fucking GMO fairy that sneaks out of the closet and feeds you bacon while you’re asleep?
Please, god, tell me you are against GMOs but take vitamins, probiotics, drugs (illicit or other), and supplements from Biotest or another vendor or pharmaceutical manufacturer so that I know you’re fully brain dead.

It appears there are few; if any industries left that haven’t adopted the ‘government teat’ business model. Consider the market response to the idea of the Fed removing the ‘artifical’ support from the economy.

This is what it is all about:
“The decision to classify obesity as a disease will have far-reaching effects such as the approval of more and better obesity drugs, continued advancements in bariatric surgery…”
Particularly the first part. I would not be surprised one bit if big pharma is not pushing this.

My thought’s exactly!!!
Imagine if some of these “victims” had the courage to say “No thanks, I’m full.”.

You do know the subject is defining obesity as a disease? I simply put forward the idea that big pharma is behind it as they stand to profit from it. This would happen regardless of Obamacare.
Anyway, obesity has been classified as a disability for a while now…i.e., before Obama even took office.

I’m well aware you can sit at home getting fatter and collect SSDI for being super fat.
It’s funny you lecture me on the subject matter of the thread, when you were the one trying to blame “capitalism” in the first place.
And third, while my word choice my be lacking, my first statement you quoted has nothing to do with obamacare.

Because Big Pharma is behind it as it is with every new disorder and disease. I brought it up in response to those who think it’s somehow connected to Obamacare. Big Pharma, just like Monsanto, profits because of both sides of the aisle.

Of course you are technically correct; but the free market approach isn’t how it has been practiced for the last 50 years or so. At all levels…city, county, state, region, and federal. The thing that need to be privatized the most in our economy is the private sector!

Yeah I agree. To say that America is a capitalist country isn’t wholly accurate.
I’ll be the first to agree to a small number of simple (I’m talking no more than a page here) regulations that ensure individual liberty, maximum innovation and advancement for every citizen. But we are at, and have been at the point where the government dictates to a large degree almost every aspect of doing business.
Part of the reason I oppose the VAT (Value added tax) is it just pretty much gives government complete control at that point.

Just out of curiosity, which regulations ensure individual liberty, or maximum innovation and advancement?
