Politico - “In Dreams from My Father, Obama chose to emphasize a racial chasm that unavoidably separated him from the woman he described as his New York girlfriend,” Maraniss(Obama’s new biographer) writes, offering a passage from the book in which they go to see a play by a black playwright:
One night I took her to see a new play by a black playwright. It was a very angry play, but very funny. Typical black American humor. The audience was mostly black, and everybody was laughing and clapping and hollering like they were in church. After the play was over, my friend started talking about why black people were so angry all the time. I said it was a matter of remembering - nobody asks why Jews remember the Holocaust, I think I said - and she said that’s different, and I said it wasn’t, and she said that anger was just a dead end. We had a big fight, right in front of the theater. When we got back to the car she started crying. She couldn’t be black, she said. She would if she could, but she couldn’t. She could only be herself, and wasn’t that enough.
“None of this happened with Genevieve,” Maraniss writes. "She remembered going to the theater only once with Barack, and it was not to see a work by a black playwright. When asked about this decades later, during a White House interview, Obama acknowledged that the scene did not happen with Genevieve. “It is an incident that happened,” he said. But not with her… I thought that [the anecdote involving the reaction of a white girlfriend to the angry black play] was a useful theme to make about sort of the interactions that I had in the relationships with white girlfriends.
This would be inline with the Derrick Bell playbook of fabricating untrue stories with a black racialist “theme.” What the left now calls “the narrative” - i.e. the bullshit.
American Thinker - 'Dreams from My Father has elements in common with the be-everywhere, do-everything bravura of the creations of historical novelists. Incidents in Dreams often seem framed to make Obama seem special, even heroic to the target reader, a subset of urban elite opinion-makers obsessed with race.
“During an interview in the Oval Office, Obama acknowledged that, while Genevieve [Cook] was his New York girlfriend, the description in his memoir was a “compression” of girlfriends, including one who followed Genevieve [Cook] when he lived in Chicago,”
And as American Thinker noted:
“Devices such as composite characters and shifting times to compress the narrative do not belong to the world of biography and autobiography…Narrative compression is used when adapting a book for the stage or in a film…The other genre where the technique of creating composite characters is used to great effect is historical fiction…Real feats of heroism by different men are often combined and attributed to their fictional hero, creating, in effect, a composite character who manages to be everywhere and do almost everything.”
On Genevieve Cook (Obama biographer Maraniss) admits, “Obama was the central character in his letters(to her.)”
Breitbart.com - 'Obama wrote about Genevieve in Dreams from My Father, although he didn’t mention her by name. He even inserted incidents into their past that weren’t there, as even he admitted, playing up their racial tensions.
The most telling part of this expose, however, lies in Obama’s friends and actions. All of Obama’s friends were Pakistani - Hasan Chandoo, Wahid Hamid, Sohale Siddiqi, Beenu Mahmood. As Mahmood described to Maraniss:
He could see Obama slowly but carefully distancing himself as a necessary step in establishing his political identity as an American. For years when Barack was around them, he seemed to share their attitudes as sophisticated outsiders who looked at politics from an international perspective. He was one of them, in that sense. But to get to where he wanted to go he had to change.
In the end, what we find out about Obama is what we already suspected: he was deeply narcissistic, pretentious, and in his own mind, an outsider to America.’
Obama went ‘on holiday’ to Pakistan with his friends at the height of the Soviet war when the place was teaming with Afghan refugees and militants. By coincidence, he stayed at the house of the man who would go on to become PM of Pakistan. Obama was ‘friends’ with his son. This was all revealed by Obama himself out of the blue a couple of years ago and it didn’t even raise an eyebrow. I often wonder how Obama afforded to go to all those fancy schools/colleges and travel all over the world. Fortunately convicted terrorist bombers Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn helped out with launching his campaign.
