I just have a suspicion that if the economy doesn’t improve (or gets worse)and this stretches on, the defense will be “well, it would have been worse.” And if it doesn’t work, will it be owned up to? Will these kind of actions be dismissed in the future?
On the otherhand, when the economy crawls out of this at some point, who will have the final say as to where the credit goes? The market inspite of the government? The government in spite of the market? Or, a combination?

I think you know the answer to this. How do most people view FDR and the new deal? Why weren’t policies intended to be temporary “stimulous” reversed?

there is little hope that people will understand that it was indeed the market in spite of gov’t. We would not have Obama in the oval office if this were even remotely possible.
