Obama Seeks 'Assault' Weapons Ban

dems get away with anti-gun laws becuase so many people have lost sight of why the 2nd is important, and people have used it as a convenient scape goat. Side effects of a large middle class.

i imagine more happenings at the Mexican border will occur, especially as the cartels get more daring and aggressive. More people will also be fleeing Mexico and cause pressure in border communities.

i think if the cartels hit first, there will be a bigger public shift to removing anti-gun laws. If it ends up being more rancher vs immigrant scenarios, probably the opposite.

This should be a song title.

You are giving proponents of gun control too much credit. Most have not read any ammendment.

No, go back and read the article, there’s nothing about anyone smuggling guns in from Mexico, just the opposite.

I know. I admitted I fucked up, hence the edit.

The point is that dirtbag gun shop owners who will sell anything to anyone just to make a buck give the gun control crowd just the foot in the door they need to try and get a ban in place.

This George Iknadosian guy in that article doesn’t give a shit about your or anyone elses rights, he’s more than willing to deny gun rights to anyone as long as he can move a few more pieces.

So maybe the gun industry should do a better job of policing itself and shutting down the shady fucks like Iknadosian before they create a problem that someone like Holder wants to fix with a gun ban.

Selling AK’s to Mexican drug cartels is just asking for some sort of eventual crackdown, but it might be a crackdown that will affect every gun owner.

Well, let’s put it into perspective. On a larger scale, “dirtbag gun shop owners” are called “arms dealers.”

Just like “larceny” is called “taxation” and “organized crime” is called “government.”

But I see your point. My counterpoint is that just as Abbott Laboratories can’t police every shady pharmacist who sells Vicodin under the table to high school students, the “gun industry” certainly can’t be held responsible for the actions of some unscrupulous gun dealers.

How about the police police the gun dealers, and enforce the laws already on the books pertaining to selling weapons to ineligible people?
Im not a lawyer but i am pretty sure that AK’s are already illegal, at least in CA if not other places. And I have to make my own hand grenades like some kind of peasant because they dont sell them anywhere nearby.

My point is, the mexican cartels are buying weapons that are already illegal, and in fact the only people that can legally aquire these weapons are law enforcement and military personel.

Probably true, unfortunately.

This is pretty lol, if anyone thinks the US premium gun market’s ‘assault’ rifles is what supplies the artillery of cartels, they’ve gone bonkers.

It’s true some criminal negro street organizations steal or buy ‘assault’ rifles under aliases, through their girlfriends or from dirty gun dealers but those idiots live within the confines of the USA, the English language and aren’t known for good business sense.

However, to think Cartels who are able to get their drug supply from COLOMBIA with ease; would have any more difficulty procuring much more inexpensive South American AK47s and internally made Brazilian &/0r Colombian FALs, than US M16 juniors with the auto pulled and because of this opt to pay the extra 300 + conversion kit is a fool.

Why would cartels buy from overpriced American semi-auto dealers, when they can buy wholesell from the connects they have in Colombia already for a fraction of the price on full-auto? Give me a break, and get real.

why is that? you don’t like the way they look? There are guns that are much more portable and do much more damage that are not on the list.

What Bill Roberts said, just below what you wrote.

Except that you didn’t get his obvious sarcasm. He was using his post to support a pro-gun stance, which you seemingly abhor (hence your “i wouldn’t want to stay any longer than holiday in the US” comment).
Congratulations on living up to the stereotypy that Americans don’t get irony. But I know, it’s hard to detect online.

And yes, for the record, I’m anti gun. It’s funny, I live in a country where guns are illegal, and we have less gun crime. Amazing.

Wow, that “reasoning” sure proved your case!

(Rolls eyes)

I guess you are easily amazed, and even by lines of “reasoning” that don’t even begin to prove your point.

I think you’re quite capable of observing that it was a statement, and not a line of argument or reasoning. But it’s fine, keep knocking down those straw men.

Fair enough though that it was a flippant and sarcastic statement.

I just read through all 10 of your T-Nation posts-- 7 here and 3 in SAMA. Incredible.

Although you’re posting on a ‘bodybuilding’ board with no stats or pics and trolling through the Sex and Politics boards, respectively, I’ll still ask, what country is that?

Depends on the State. California is horrible with gun laws. I wouldn’t give a damn if it fell intot he ocean. Fruitcake liberalism run wild.

But seriously, as the guy above me said, if you’re getting hundreds of kilos of coke from a Columbian cartel, how hard would it be to get heavy weaponry. any elected official that even says soemthing so stupid should get a blanket party.

It’s really cool we have this 2 ton of coke, but damn where can we get a gun? I know, let’s go to Cabelas! Friggin morons.

Sorry, I’m from the UK, I live in England. Should have mentioned that I guess!

I’m at T-Nation for the great articles and advice. I am quite new to the whole fitness thing, so don’t really feel able to contribute to other areas at the moment. I’m also new at T-Nation and haven’t got round to doing anything with my profile.

However, I’ve been at it for 4 months now and put on 4kg of muscle. I’ve taken progress pictures for myself, and I’ve also put my brother on an exercise and diet kick because he was quite severely overweight, and he’s since lost inches around his middle. The weights I lift are still very light by the standards here, but they’ve quadrupled since I started. I owe a lot to this site.

/life story.

Amen. The last thing I ever want is to be like fucking England.

You never, ever want the government to have the only guns in the land. Ever.

Yeah, well here’s some advice- you need do some research on the effects of heavy firearms restrictions in your country.

UK is the world poster child for how heavy firearms restrictions and gun bans don’t work. With much stricter gun control than the US, your gun related crime rate increases are through the roof for the past several years.

http://www.bloggernews.net/14139

Jeez, this is just after 3 seconds of research. How could you even remotely come to the conclusion, apparently living in the middle of that clusterf*ck, that disarming law abiding citizens and enabling criminals could even remotely be working? And you’re trying to use the UK as an example???

Here’s the cherry on the cake-- even though the overall crime rate is apparently dropping, the GUN CRIME IS RISING!

Gun control is having the opposite effect on “gun related crimes”! (I use the phrase ‘gun related crimes’ with hesitation-- it’s a statistics ‘trick’).

I see those lil royal faggots shooting and missing quail tho…how does that work?

Thanks for the links. In a quick search myself I also found links to articles from the past ten years along the same lines as the ones you gave, but I also found others talking about a decrease in gun crime. Admittedly it’s an area where I have opinions and little knowledge. I’ve always been anti-gun because the thought of guns scares me. But I’ve never felt the threat of crime or guns since I moved from South Africa, so I have never been pushed to learn more. Needless to say, I’ll be reading more on the matter.
