The lawyer in me would sue the s–t out of these government employees using a Bivens Action, which makes the employee personally liable for the damages. Apparently, Sen. Reid, Obama’s campaign co-chair, and all these other people are guilty as hell.
So now that even the NYT, and CNN’s Piers Morgan have turned on Barry’s admin with respect to IRS-led tyranny - could that increase the chances of seeing a repeal of BarryCare? Particularly the part allowing the IRS to be the collection agents headed by, as Drudge calls Sarah Hall Ingram, the IRS henchwoman?
What are the odds she is allowed to keep her job, even after after earning a bonus of over $100K for successfully targeting evil, racist, scourge of American freedom TEA Party organizations?
This is almost 1/50th as bad as “Mission Accomplished.”
Only the right is trying to connect Obama to this whole IRS thing. Republican congressmen got exposed at that hearing today (watched an hours worth) - the political tone was so blatantly obvious, it astonishes me these people are partly responsible for the future of the US. The Obama admin. was notified by the IRS Inspector General in June last year, during the campaign, that he was investigating the now publicised misconduct of the IRS. However, he didn’t say that he had made any conclusions, simply that he was investigating the situation. I have no idea why that would be a smoking gun. Telling the public about an on-going investigation isn’t good policy because it can distract the investigation’s efficacy and creates mass hysteria without anything being substantiated yet. And in the middle of a political campaign? Yeah forget about any voluntary dissemination of politically-related information.
Both the IRS and Benghazi (label this under “only in the US” - world media is seeing past this BS) situations should be highlighting issues with the already lambasted US political cycle, especially elections.

I stopped reading right about here. The disconnect from reality must be really strong among the NZ progressive crowd.

Yeah, you’re correct, the progressives here are delusional for the most part. That’s why I vote National (read: centre right).
Anything left of libertarian is progressive.
I don’t disagree that Iraq was a goat screw - but I’m pretty sure my definition of goat screw is light years apart from your definition of the same.

Either way, I’m not talking about the Iraq war generally, I was referring to the infamous Mission Accomplished campaign by the Bush admin., unsurprisingly a year before an election. Funny how that works.
The current “scandals” if you want to call them that are more of an indictment of the US political environment than actual substantiated scenarios that harmed US citizens in any way and thus reflect on the moral character of any high-level politicians.
I’m telling you now, none of this stuff is getting any air play in the international press. It’s really not going to be ever be taken seriously unless bipartisan investigations reveal something truly scandalous.

Gross, intentional and systematic violation of first amendment rights in the name of political persecution, that was condoned through inaction and lied about publicly is a “substantiated scenario that harmed US citizens” and is “truly scandalous” to anyone that can actually think beyond a grade school level…

Thank you beans. I would also add that we do not care AT ALL that this isn’t getting major press outside the U.S. because this is a big deal TO US as a domestic matter. It doesn’t much matter what other countries think of the internal events, specifically because they are internal to us and our way of thinking.

They also want to bring criminal charges as against James Rosen. Now the Obama Administration is going after the first amendment. Nothing is sacred to these people.

I think Obama going after the press is dangerous territory for him. Hard to insult someone, and then hope they hop in bed with you.
In a briefing Monday afternoon, presidential press secretary Jay Carney offered new information on what the White House knew about an internal IRS report on the targeting of conservative groups–information that’s at odds with the impression Carney left last week…
…The evolving story doesn’t offer evidence that the White House was aware of the targeting at any point before last month. But it does raise questions about whether it’s being fully forthcoming in its public statements on the issue.
“You only gave us a version,” one reporter said…
Not making an accusation, but even MSNBC seems to be saying ‘hmmm.’

lol @ anyone that believed or believes this was “low level pencil pushers going rouge”. Those same people believe that a youtube video caused the meltdown in the ME last September and cheer a man that was jailed for expressing his first amended rights to pacify “global islam”…

According to the White House Visitors Log, provided here in searchable form by U.S. News and World Report, the president of the anti-Tea Party National Treasury Employees Union, Colleen Kelley, visited the White House at 12:30pm that Wednesday noon time of March 31st.
The White House lists the IRS union leaderâ??s visit this way:
Kelley, Colleen POTUS 03/31/2010 12:30
In White House language, â??POTUSâ?? stands for â??President of the United States.â??
The very next day after her White House meeting with the President, according to the Treasury Departmentâ??s Inspector Generalâ??s Report, IRS employees â?? the same employees who belong to the NTEU â?? set to work in earnest targeting the Tea Party and conservative groups around America. The IG report wrote it up this way:
April 1-2, 2010: The new Acting Manager, Technical Unit, suggested the need for a Sensitive Case Report on the Tea Party cases. The Determinations Unit Program Manager Agreed.
