Obama Chooses Whackjob for USSC

"Social conservatives, on the other hand, already have sought to paint her as “disturbingly out of the mainstream” on some issues, including her opposition to the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy for gay soldiers.

Kagan argued strenuously against the policy, calling it “just flat out wrong.”

She was among law school deans who filed a brief in a Supreme Court case over a federal law that withholds government money from colleges that ban the military from recruiting on campus because of objections to the Pentagon’s policy on gays. The Supreme Court upheld the law unanimously.

Last year, the Senate confirmed Kagan by a vote of 61-31, with only 7 Republicans supporting her. The relatively large number of votes against her cheered some conservative activists, although the margin suggested Kagan would again prevail in a confirmation vote for the Supreme Court.

One academic paper she wrote in the 1990s could be used against her in the confirmation process. Kagan lamented the lack of “seriousness and substance” in confirmation hearings for Stephen Breyer and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. “When the Senate ceases to engage nominees in meaningful discussion of legal issues, the confirmation process takes on an air of vacuity and farce,” she wrote in the University of Chicago Law Review in 1995.

Asked about this by senators when her nomination as solicitor general was pending, Kagan replied that she is “less convinced than I was in 1995 that substantive discussions of legal issues and views, in the context of nomination hearings, provide the great public benefits.”

Its not in this whitewash article but she barred military recruiters from Harvard because she disagreed with DADT about gays in the military, until the gov’t cut off the cash.

There are now also no Protestants, the largest denomination in the USA, on the USSC.

A wise Latina and a true leftist nut…all from Barry the Bozo.

at least the big O is consistent . . . .

This was one of the very few reasons to vote for McCain. 20 or 30 years and maybe more we will be tattooed with another leftist.

That’s for sure.
Yeah this bitch is a hack. No judicial experiece, really? That’s what we want on the court is someone who hasn’t even proceeded over traffic court? An mealy mouthed, idealistic achademic with no experience.
Natrually, I will be writing my elected officials to vote “Fuck No” on this yankee whore.

I find it hard to believe this person has no experience as a judge. This cannot be true. No way.

I think this person is a ruse. Nominate her, and when she is shot down because of no experience he will then nominate a real socialist judge out on the West Coast somewhere. But then again Leftists care more about their own personal goals, then what the American people truely want.

my first reaction was: those are some odd ear rings for a dude to be wearing.

Then i realized its a she, not a dude

Barring a revelation of Earth shattering consequence she will be confirmed. Trust me. A few Republicans will grill her like a piece of chicken and then vote to confirm her and that will be the extent of the meaningful opposition. Mark my words.

I hope you’re wrong. I’m sure you’re right, but I hope you’re wrong.

So do I, but I’m not. And make no mistake, her youth is by design as well. Unless she gets hit by a bus we will be treated to her constitution shredding, revisionist, hack-tivism for most of if not THE rest of my life. I begged during the campaign for people to think long and hard about these federal judicial appointments. There is a perfectly reasonable chance she will still be contaminating that seat when Obama himself dies.

So, when do you think she’ll officially come out of the closet?

About the same time you do PMPM.

Protestants are not the largest denomination, Catholics are. Protestants is an umbrella term anyway, not an denomination.

As soon as we can prove she is the daughter of Beaker!

She was actually following the letter of the law when she disagreed with don’t ask don’t tell. Your own Judge Napolitano spoke about this today.

Also, only people who have never read a supreme court opinion think that judicial activism is uniquely liberal. Either way, Kagan, a 50 year old liberal, will replace a 90 year old liberal and the chess game goes on…

She is credited with bringing balance to the harvard law faculty courting the best conservative and liberal legal scholars. None of whom belonged to any minority groups. Shes a centrist. She just looks like a leftist nut from alllll the way over there on the right wing where you are.

Yeah, there is no requirement for judicial experience on the supreme court. And its been done before with people from all walks of life. She was a legal scholar at two of the finest law schools in the world. She’ll be fine.

But I feel for you because you’ll probably feel the same way about her opinions as I do about those of scalia alito and roberts.

Also as someone else poined out, left of center replaces left of center.
