Excellent article.
Even the Brits see this.
(Not intended as offensive to the British: my meaning is that they have long favored bigger government and a more socialist position than Americans have, but even from this perspective, they see it.)

The article referenced in this editorial is just as good.
Evidently being the President isn’t nearly as much fun as becoming the President.
You have to actually do stuff.

Perhaps if I may suggest for Mr Obama:
Of the lofty and multiple goals mentioned in the speech referred to here and at other time, pick one and achieve it first.
Then and only then move on to the others.
I recommend in fact causing terrible storms to stop devastating our lands, as promised. (No carbon caps or new energy taxes, though.) On success, this having actually been accomplished, and only upon success, move on to national socialism, universal health care, higher taxes for employers and investors, etc.
Or he can pick another: I wouldn’t presume to tell him which.
Another great choice would be dismantling the terror networks.
Or, obtaining freedom of speech for the blogger in Iran.
Or truly obtaining a new dawn in the Middle East.
Banishing AIDS would be another great pick.
Pick one, any one, and accomplish it first before moving on to overthrowing the free market economy. Better for you, better for us. Thanx
It didn’t take long for Obama to give up on Afghanistan and frankly I don’t blame him - this is an unwinnable war. But why couldn’t he have come out and said this prior to getting into office (rhetorical question) how many reverse gears can one man have?

He’s an asshole and a coward…What happened to not negotiating with terrorists? What is a moderate Taliban, is that like the moderate wing of the KKK? The Taliban, by definition are all extremists.
What have you people got us into? It’s playing pussy with the terrorists that got us into this mess in the first place. What an imbecile…Didn’t take long for him to fail.

Well, you are what you eat, after all.

We have to negotiate with them. We want to pull out of Afghanistan some day, right? In a dozen or so years (if even that long) after our pullout they’ll be running large parts regions of Afghanistan again anyways. If not the whole thing. The best we can do is come to agreement with a faction of the Taliban that is happy to brutalize it’s own. Or, at least not protect terrorists who target the US (though they may target others in Europe, Asia, or Africa, who knows). The Taliban is here to stay.

Oh, don’t get me wrong. We’d be negotiating with extremists, either way. But, it may not be worth it to them to harbor other extremists directly targeting us, if we’re willing to leave them to brutalize they’re own people. Or, terrorize other nations, excluding the US. Basically, non-US targeting extremists.
For a man that is so busy and tired it’s interesting he chooses to prioritise getting public funding for embryonic stem cell research signed off.
Well, it wasn’t anywhere as tiring as a boring ol’ meeting with the head of state of a country “just the same as the other 190 countries in the world [that] shouldn’t expect special treatment.”
(The quote is from an Obama State Department official explaining the treatment, not Obama himself.)
Plus think how tiring it was to tell a staffer to get the Prime Minister a DVD collection as the official gift for the occasion. Being thoughtful uses up energy.

Even funnier is that European DVD formats are different than American ones. Some DVD players can play both, but not all. Never matter though, I doubt the Prime Minister will not bother unwrapping the thing. I wouldn’t.

I got a chuckle out of that.
Bush was not a good president, but what we have now, OMG! How he could snatch defeat from the jaws of victory this quickly is some kind of record for sure.
