Obama and Unemployment

So Obama said yesterday that extending unemployment benefits helps the economy as the people receiving the benefits have additional money to spend. This additional money being spent creates more income to businesses which in turn may allow them to hire more people leading to job growth.

Obama and the Democrats also claim that lowering taxes, thereby increasing income, does not lead to job creation because “trickle down” doesn’t work.

My question to all liberals is: Do you just not see this illogical circle jerk of Obama’s or do you just choose to ignore it because, darn it, he’s the first half white President and he’s your guy?

Here’s a direct quote from the transcript for the deniers: “When folks like Katherine have a little more to spend to turn up the heat in her house or buy a few extra groceries, that means more spending with businesses in her local community, which in turn may inspire that business to hire one more person, maybe Kathy (sp).” http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/transcript-president-obamas-jan-7-remarks-on-unemployment/2014/01/07/79c65704-77bc-11e3-b1c5-739e63e9c9a7_story.html

Don’t really understand where the extra money is going to come from…magic?

“We’re not broke, there’s plenty of money, it’s just that the government doesn’t have it…”

From extending unemployment benefits to those who have maxed out their unemployment eligibility.

I know who it is going too, but where is the government going to get all this money to pay people?

And if benefits were extended to 99 weeks already( 2 years, sweet jeebus)…why not just make them infinity so nobody has to go back to work? HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY

As a buisness owner I can state for certain, that if my buisness taxes went down, I’d hire more people, as it is, my wife and I both are working up words of 80-100 hrs a week. As I stated before, last year I paid 120 thousand in taxes, not including consumtion tax, just monthly, and yearly buisness taxes, to have a comercial space, and operate a buisness ( 24hr gym), and my take home was 40 thousand.

So if you do the math, that means basicaly, every time my buisness makes 5 bucks, I get to keep a dollar. News flash, you wonder why the economy is in the dumper, and small buisness’s are dropping like fly’s.

Also, just for sake of arguement, my place runs at full capacity, with close to a 1000 member’s, in a 5000sqft space, and a proven buisness plan. We’re doing everything right, and working are asses off, just being taxed to death. last year here in Canada, they came up with a new tax, called a music tax, 5 grand a year, because I play music ( local radio station) They say the internet has made it hard for artist’s to make a living, so this to becomes my problem.

We’re heading to a place where you either work for the goverment in some form, or for a giant corparation ( wallmart, Mc D’s ) because nothing else is going to survive. Ya, keep voting for the comunist party, oh sorry I mean Liberal party !

It’s amazing how many business owners feel the way you do.

And not so amazing that those on the government dole strongly disagree with you…and they are slowly becoming the majority.

I can certainly understand your frustration; however; consider that if your business creates a year after year 10% profit after expenses/taxes/depreciation, etc., you are well above average.

The situation is exactly like the leaders of business and finance want it. People without jobs are a side-effect, not the problem.

Smh…

What are the taxes in Canada in relation to America. Serious question I don’t know anyone from our hat.

lmao

Pitt must be in heaven hearing this. Caption Government to the rescue!

Holy shit, that is the silliest bullshit I’ve heard in a long time.

Captain not Caption

And upon further reading, the tax I’m finding isn’t really as described. Still dumb, IMO, but not so super silly as I understood Jake…

Ya, It’s called, SOCAN, if you google it, it dosen’t apear to be a goverment outfit, but if I don’t pay them, I’m shut down. This year they’re the first to hit me up, as I’ve already got my Email from them about this year’s due’s. As far as taxes in Canada, I think we’re real similar to the state’s, with Ontario, and Quebec being the worst for tax, both have been liberal for the past 10-12yrs.

I’m actual;ly thinking about moving family, and buisness to Sask. I’ve had a couple friends make the move, and they actually encourage small buisness. Anyway I’m sure the state’s have somthing similar to SOCAN, you’d have to ask someone that own’s a gym, bar, or dance studio, somwhere they play music, and try to earn a living. Latter

Ontario has much higher taxes than the US with the addition of taxes like GST (get Screwed tax). I used to go to Grand Bend every year until the value of your dollar caught up with ours and drove out the tourists.

DUH how about the defense of our country

@ beans I really looked for a good Youtube

Come on liberals, tell me why we shouldn’t cut out the middleman (government) and just let businesses keep more of their income since Obama just admitted businesses with more income hire more people.

I completely agree, but sadly I wouldn’t call this a liberal only problem. Republicans don’t have a strong history over the last 30 years as being fiscally conservative either.

That’s why I vote libertarian.
