I saw the ezekiel bread thread and feel like sharing my love for oat bran.
Its pretty much the same as oatmeal nutritional, maybe more fiber and maybe a bit smaller glycemic load due to less processing, but I haven’t verified any of that.
I like it for the change of pace. Its got a different texture and consistency w/ a little more glop than oatmeal. If you mix whey with it, its like a protein porridge that is delicious.
Give it a shot if you are getting sick of rolled oats.
you know, whenever i have those stints where i dont feel like oatmeal, i just pull a Ronnie Coleman breakfast, go for slop lol. Eggs + grits + cheese in a big bowl.
Even before I became concerned with bodybuilding nutrition, I always liked getting toasted oat bran muffins whenever I’d have breakfast out at a diner. Not like I was trying to be healthy or anything, but something about the thicker consistency makes me just prefer it to the usual butter soaked white toast they always throw at you.

A slice of oat bran bread has a glycemic load of 6, a cup of oatmeal has a glycemic index of 13+ (depending on type). I know those are different serving sizes, but it does help prove your point.
how do you guys eat oatmeal? if i have a cup and 1/2 of that in the morning, it takes me over an hour to eat breakfast. shit makes me gag. i have to eat regular cereal
make 1/2 cup, pour in an extra uncooked 1/2 cup when the first 1/2 is done. Makes it a bit thicker, but it is a lot quicker to eat.
This way im only eating 1/2 cup oatmeal in size, but 1 cup of oatmeal in nutritional value, then i get the rest of my breakfast carbs elsewhere, namely in things that dont take so F’ing long to eat, IE wheat toast, bananas, etc. Still takes me an hour to eat breakfast, but thats what happens when you have to eat so much to continue growing.

We’re going to need the recipe.
I’ve been throwing in 50g carbs worth of oats in the blender w/ 6 egg whites and a whole egg with a bit of splenda and some cinnamon then cooking it up and it comes out alright. Thats how I do my protein pancakes.
I’ve also eaten rolled oats dry when hard up for a little pre-workout boost and it wasn’t too bad.
