Nice work. How tall are you?
A whopping 5’9"-ish. Lol.
Damn your tall! haha

Training looking good, Interesting program makes me feel lazy with my training!
Looks around Oh, I didn’t see you down there, haha. Thanks. Some days I wish I could be lazy and not have to do a bajillion reps.

Nice job and good luck with you training. Josh knows his stuff and his clients have great results.

Thanks Phil. It has been good working with Josh thus far.

Week 3 Day 2

Squat (no belt) 350x5x5
Stiff-legged DL (3" deficit) 175,230,270,205x10,10,10,10
Deadlift 345x3x3
Dead squats 310x4x1
Side bends
Plate twists

Notes: I think tonight turned out pretty well. My previous high-water mark using a 5x5 set-rep scheme was 345. I don’t think I’d exactly consider it a PR since, but it was nice getting through it relatively unscathed. Time permitting, I might post a video of one of my squat sets. SLDLs hit the hamstrings hard and by the last set they were torched. Dead squats didn’t elicit the same pain in the glute-ham tie-in area as last time and all the singles felt pretty damn good.

niiiiiiiiiiiiice!

my kind of workout, you must be fried today!

My lower back is all kind of jacked up because of the training and also because I have had to run errands and clean up the damn house before visitors arrive. Whatever happened to calm, relaxing weekends?

Man, 5x5 with 350lb is no joke. Not surprised to see that your lower back is jacked up with that and everything else. Adapting to the high-rep stiff legged deadlifts?

I couldn’t get my day 3 session in on Sunday (Father’s Day activities) or Monday (wife got sick). So I just had to skip it. Family responsibilities take precedence over training - that’s just the way it is.

Week 4 Day 1
Deload week

Bench press 185x2x10
CG bench press 155x2x8
WG paused bench press 145x2x6
Flyes 2x8
Lat pulldowns 100x3x10
Scapular retractions 120x4x12
Lying DB triceps extensions 25x4x12
Reverse barbell curls 50x3x15
Planks 2x1 minute
Side planks 1 minute/side

Notes: Ahh, deload week. I always feel lazy doing these sessions, but I know they are necessary to keep me from running myself into the ground. Anyhow, that’s all I did. I’ll post a couple of videos from last week’s training to provide a little diversionary entertainment during this oh so boring week.

This was my second set of 265x10 from last week

And here’s my fifth set of squats from last week. Exciting stuff, I tell ya.

Week 4 Day 2
The deload continues

Squat 235x3x5
Deadlift 275x3x3
Side bends 70x2x8
Plate twists 25x2x10

Notes: It was my 11th wedding anniversary, so this brief session was timed perfectly. Training wise, nothing significant here as you can see. One more deload day and it’s back to business.

I had a deload day on Sunday. Nothing worth writing about.

Back at it

Week 5 Day 1

Bench press 275x2x8
CG bench press 250x2x8
WG paused bench press 240x2x6
Flyes 3x12
Lat pulldowns 130x5x15
Scapular retractions 120x4x15
DB triceps extensions 45x6x10
Reverse curls 90x4x8
Planks 2x1 min
Side planks 1 min per side

Notes: Lifted some real weights today. I was pleased with the bar speed on bench today. I’ve never done 8 reps with 275 before, so technically this is a rep PR for this weight I suppose. Out of everything, though, the hardest exercise of the day has to go to the DB extensions. I felt like I’d never finish, lol. Good session. I’ll post a video of one of my bench sets if anyone is bored enough to watch it haha.

Here’s set #2 of bench press from today.

Nice, I will watch these when I get home from work!!

I will start working with Josh in the next 2-3 weeks, can’t wait

*tech looks solid in those vids, nice work.

Solid benching man - great bar speed as you mentioned yourself! And I hear you re the DB extensions. Can’t stand them!

Week 5
Day 2

Squat (no belt) 360x4x5
3" deficit SLDLs 185,235,280,215x10,10,10,10
Deadlift 350x3x3
Dead squats 315x3x1
Side bends 70x2x8
Plate twists 25x2x12

Notes: Visiting my parents for the July 4th weekend and finding a gym is unbelievably tough. I was actually supposed to do this session yesterday, but the damn place closed @ 3pm. Are you kidding me? Went in today and lo and behold they only have 2 bars, neither one has a center knurling. The first work set the bar felt like it was just going to roll off my back. I remembered that I had some athletic tape in my gym bag and improvised my own ‘knurling’ and it worked pretty well.

As for the actual squats, I stayed sans belt and managed to crank through all 4 sets of 5. This was probably the hardest day of squatting I can remember in quite a while. If not for a little bit of willpower, it would have been awful tempting to just stop after squatting but I got my second wind by the time the deadlift speed sets rolled around. Dead squats were solid and popped off the pins with good speed. Good session overall, which is surprising since I usually lift for shit when I’m outside the confines of my garage gym.

brutal session there man - I am going to start my training with Josh next week I think, looking forward to it!

Tried posting this earlier, but stupid thing didn’t show up.

Take 2.

Week 5 Day 3

Front squats 210x3x6
CG 2-board press 265x3x10
Barbell rows 215x3x8
Barbell hip thrusts 155x3x15
Pistol squats BWx3x6
Chins BW+25x7,7,5
Triceps pushdowns 4x20
Leg raises (knees to chest) 2x12
Leg raises (straight legs) 2x8

Notes: Still really sore from squats and felt sluggish throughout the session. Nothing felt heavy, but didn’t have a lot of juice.
