Nice job and good luck with you training. Josh knows his stuff and his clients have great results.
Thanks Phil. It has been good working with Josh thus far.

Notes: I think tonight turned out pretty well. My previous high-water mark using a 5x5 set-rep scheme was 345. I don’t think I’d exactly consider it a PR since, but it was nice getting through it relatively unscathed. Time permitting, I might post a video of one of my squat sets. SLDLs hit the hamstrings hard and by the last set they were torched. Dead squats didn’t elicit the same pain in the glute-ham tie-in area as last time and all the singles felt pretty damn good.
my kind of workout, you must be fried today!
My lower back is all kind of jacked up because of the training and also because I have had to run errands and clean up the damn house before visitors arrive. Whatever happened to calm, relaxing weekends?
Man, 5x5 with 350lb is no joke. Not surprised to see that your lower back is jacked up with that and everything else. Adapting to the high-rep stiff legged deadlifts?
I couldn’t get my day 3 session in on Sunday (Father’s Day activities) or Monday (wife got sick). So I just had to skip it. Family responsibilities take precedence over training - that’s just the way it is.

CG bench press 155x2x8
WG paused bench press 145x2x6

Lying DB triceps extensions 25x4x12
Reverse barbell curls 50x3x15
Planks 2x1 minute
Side planks 1 minute/side
Notes: Ahh, deload week. I always feel lazy doing these sessions, but I know they are necessary to keep me from running myself into the ground. Anyhow, that’s all I did. I’ll post a couple of videos from last week’s training to provide a little diversionary entertainment during this oh so boring week.
Squat 235x3x5
Deadlift 275x3x3
Side bends 70x2x8
Plate twists 25x2x10
Notes: It was my 11th wedding anniversary, so this brief session was timed perfectly. Training wise, nothing significant here as you can see. One more deload day and it’s back to business.

Notes: Lifted some real weights today. I was pleased with the bar speed on bench today. I’ve never done 8 reps with 275 before, so technically this is a rep PR for this weight I suppose. Out of everything, though, the hardest exercise of the day has to go to the DB extensions. I felt like I’d never finish, lol. Good session. I’ll post a video of one of my bench sets if anyone is bored enough to watch it haha.

Notes: Visiting my parents for the July 4th weekend and finding a gym is unbelievably tough. I was actually supposed to do this session yesterday, but the damn place closed @ 3pm. Are you kidding me? Went in today and lo and behold they only have 2 bars, neither one has a center knurling. The first work set the bar felt like it was just going to roll off my back. I remembered that I had some athletic tape in my gym bag and improvised my own ‘knurling’ and it worked pretty well.
As for the actual squats, I stayed sans belt and managed to crank through all 4 sets of 5. This was probably the hardest day of squatting I can remember in quite a while. If not for a little bit of willpower, it would have been awful tempting to just stop after squatting but I got my second wind by the time the deadlift speed sets rolled around. Dead squats were solid and popped off the pins with good speed. Good session overall, which is surprising since I usually lift for shit when I’m outside the confines of my garage gym.
