Not Losing Weight. What Does My Body Do?

If you’re not losing weight you’re eating too many calories.

It’s that fucking simple.

Ok, so summarizing the replies:

I don’t lose weight because:
a)I am starving myself
b)I am eating too many calories

Interesting…

What TDEE did the Ketogains calculator give you?

Ignore this nonsense. If you were actually starving yourself you would still lose weight. That’s how the body works.

It really is this simple - if you are not losing weight your calories are too high. This is an unavoidable, inescapable truth of the universe.

People can harp on about starvation mode or other such nonsense, but the simple fact is that if you are not losing weight you are not in a calorie deficit.

I honestly have no idea why people are so quick to caution against calories being “too low”.

It’s really not as big of a deal as people think. I cut quite happily on 1200 calories for weeks at a time. Arnie cut on 1500, Paul Carter on 1800.

It sucks, obviously, and you feel like shit, but the idea that your calories could be too low to lose weight is just insane.

Exactly what I wrote in the first post
1460 without exercise (sunday)
1772 with lifting
2177 with lifting and MMA

All those numbers include a 25% caloric deficit. I eat maximum 1800kcal, also on lifting+mma days.

I will weigh my food from tomorrow on, even though I don’t believe I am that wrong with using the weights from the packaging, I might be, and it’s easy to do.
I am ALREADY only eating 1480-1800kcal. If i am not that wrong with weighing I cut more, but that would mean that my metabolism is seriously fucked.

UPDATE: No change in weight, I just started to suppement 20g of carbs before MMA and saw my performance go up. Still rather puzzled what to do…

Give it time. You’re looking at a month and a half of activity at this point. That isn’t actually very much.

I know, I won’t change anything, as long as work capacity goes up.
Jus ttrying to log the diet a little and staying accountable.

If you’re not losing weight, you’re eating too much.
Also, I don’t understand, you say your numbers in the gym are increasing fast yet you’re not a lifting noob? This doesn’t make sense.
5’9" and 203lb with that much calories, you should be easily losing 1-3lb per week, especially with your activity level.
Something isn’t adding up.

you should cut the cafeine, god damn, black coffee+c4 in the morning ! cut every stimulant !

hows your night sleep going ? sleeping 8-9hours a day ? a good sleep ?

*don’t use any cheat meal !

Agree.

Though if you’re on a lower quality diet eating, say 1800kcals and stall. Then increase the quantity and quality of your food. You may find yourself in a situation where you are eating more calories (say 2200) but utilising fewer calories (say 1700) because of fibre, higher thermic effect of eating, etc.

Good to hear, keep slowly adding carbs in that way then until the performance increase plateaus

Well it is what it is. My numbers go up (and they still do) because I train way more now than before. I weigh the food I eat, and until recently (talk about that later) didn’t eat any cheat meals.

I feel well with all that stuff, I sleep around 7h per night with good quality, otherwise I couldn’t maintain the training volume. I also don’t feel any effects of caffeine overdose, I just don’t respond too strong to it. Is there any other reason to cut caffeine?

Resume: As a matter of fact weight loss set in super slow, but starting to take photos of myself it is really the body composition that changed, love handles and fat at the thigh area is nearly gone, i hope the belly comes next.
The last two nights I skipped dinner after workouts, I was tired and not really hungry, and lost again 1 kg, so it seems that my basic metabolic rate is suuuuuper low and I just don’t need a lot of calories. Sounds weird, but I don’t have any other explanation.
I feel well and everything is advancing now, even though much slower than I thought. Since I cracked the 90kg mark now, I had dessert yesterday, felt good at the moment, now working on the next few kilos until the next cheat meal.
