I don’t know. I haven’t been actually. I do not think they’ve taken as big a step away from their heritage. As far as I’m aware, they still retain the tradition for how last names work which is something we started moving away from before the 1800s (i.e., your last name signifies who is your father/mother).
Hafthor more or less means Ocean Thunder. Haf (ocean, very similar to our “hav”). I don’t have the energy to run off and copy the correct Icelandic letters.
It’s my understanding the reason this has become a faux pas is because it was misappropriate by the extreme xenophobic right with nazi tendancies.

I don’t think it’s an established term but what I mean was essentially doing anything that honors our heritage. Made sure to ask around before replying, so I wasn’t disillusioned myself but it appears to be quite frowned upon to wear a Mjolnir token, name your children after the old gods, and so on.
Haha, I meant more that I wasn’t going to be very formal about it and make a proper poll. I am receptive to input though.

Too fatigued on deadlifts, residual from Wednesday when I did sets at 150 for fun. So I just skipped sets, went home, and ate instead. Realised I goofed last week, as my intent was 8/6/4 week 1, 7/5/3 week 2, and 6/4/2 this week. Ah, well.
Also a bit worn, jaw pain is really killing me. Have arguably been too active for my calorie intake as well… Stressful week to boot.
Here are some squat videos, I can see what you mean @guineapig with my back, I’ll have to work on that. Final two video(s) is like Westside Barbell wide stance. That felt the strongest. Not going to do any other remarks on technique today as I don’t want to think about training this close to bed (just wanted to log so I don’t have that as a residual task for tomorrow). I’ll crop the duration of these better when uploading in the future
Included bench videos, final set felt good and pain free. At the end of the first video I point out where it hurts. Judging by the difference between the sets and my technique I managed to really get my weight on the upper traps on the final set so I guess if I fail to do that I’ll be in pain ![]()
Here’s the one set of deadlifts I did
Ignored assistance, it’s supposed to be delts and I did that Wednesday. And I felt dead. Miss doing abs on this program, but didn’t even care enough to stick around for that.
Tried out Daily Yoga while making dinner @kdjohn It had me doing things I definitely need to do but can’t justify spending money on two apps and I prefer the design and music in Down Dog.
Had some butternut squash at the bottom of my fridge that was of an unknown age so figured it was best to cook now. Not the highest GI carb around so I put some on some rye chips. And had a piece of chocolate after. The meat isn’t tender enough given my recently removed teeth so getting through this meal was painful.
Seeing videos of myself make me realise how skinny I am. Feel really light on my feet though to put a positive spin on it ![]()
Hey @Chris_Colucci , when I made this account I never thought I would have a need to disassociate the username from my real life identity but circumstances have changed. Is it possible to change my username to @Voxel? I’d be beyond obliged.
I understand if this is not possible technically and if so could you remove this account and I can create a new one? You don’t have to remove my post history as I suppose that would make the forum a swiss cheese thing in some threads but if the @s to this moniker could be replaced with something else I’d be equally grateful.

As far as life goes, not training, I’m starting to feel the energy to write/read code again. @samul @BrickHead have any code you want “reviewed”?
All three lifts look really solid to me. Stable and reproductible. Good work! I wasn’t seeing any real shakiness or someone. But damn that is a wide squat stance!

I used to do the same thing you did here with those very wide stance squats and I think it’s more a crutch than a solution/ an improvement. Your knees don’t track far enough outwards and you’ll end up using the wrong muscles to move the weight (back).
I don’t know if I have suggested this before but I’d recommend box squats. First at a bit above parallel and then going deeper. Helped me tons. With your build you will have to stand wider than the average but your knees aren’t going forward a whole much which is hindering.
Also the hamster was right, if you ever feel like taking your squat to the next level, you are a prime candidate for wraps.
