Actually, it’s not so bad that the Ministry of Information is gone now. But what is the US government going to do about its own Total Information Awareness office? That thing is headed by the same John Poindexter who was Reagan’s national security advisor who was caught no less than 5 times lying to congress, destroying documents and obstructing congress in their investigation into his involvement in the Iran-Contra fiasco. Why doesn’t Bush get rid of that tyrannical menace?
bultritewave - think it through. Its not very reasonable to conclude that agencies who enforce safety have their teeth pulled so that terrorists can’t see potential targets on the nightly news.
The structural weaknesses of the towers and the physics involved were not probably not hot stories for Brokaw and his ilk…then again I don’t watch much of that garbage.
I couldn’t sleep for 2 nights because the Lumpster hadn’t chimed in yet with some drivel. Now, I can get some rest.
I only have so much time per day for the point/counterpoint stuff on here, but I noted above some people are doubting the “fight terrorists in Iraq” concept.
To them, I offer this Newsweek piece on al-Queda sending fighters to Iraq from Afghanistan:
Of course, Newsweek spins it in a negative light, but it seems to illustrate two propositions:
- The U.S. effort in Iraq is seen as successful by al Queda, and there would be nothing worse for them than a functional, democratic republic that was a U.S. ally smack in the middle of the Mid East (and one that, unlike Israel, the rest of the region doesn’t hate on religious grounds); and
- The idea of attracting terrorists to Iraq, where we have a lot of military resources and a greater amount of control (as compared with Afghanistan) is a good one, and bears out the administration’s strategic claims.
This list of “facts” above is ridiculous. How the hell could anybody know these things, since we are pretty closed mouth about operations within Iraq? Where are these so called “facts” gathered from? What defines “rebuilt a school” or any other of the random categories outlined?
This is just as bad as a poll.
Yes, but it’s a list of facts that lets Avoids Roids sleep soundly at night, knowing that Uncle Sam is making the world safe for Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie, and Chevrolet.
That’s what counts!
Nothing like quoting a bunch of statistics, to dazzle folks with bullshit.
“Newt Gingrich, a quiet Rumsfeld confidant, thinks the U.S. went ?off a cliff? in Iraq.”
Hooray! The U.S. went off a cliff! The U.S. went off a cliff! More stuff to prove I was right all along.
