well shoot. i hope it’s a minor tweak and you’re giving it some good rest.
and yo, i’m currently cutting and appreciate any and all descriptions of this massive refead. It’s all I have to live for right now.

Uh yeah. This weekend has been massively unpleasant. Also my top half is now crooked, my torso leans to the left.
I’m getting myself to a chiro ASAP.

Unfortunately it hurts way more than a minor tweak. I hope I can get it fixed easily, but it will require a doc.
No prob… the problem is now that I gorged on junk food it reminds me how much I like it! doh.
Shit man just saw the jacked up back…get that stuff taken care of…
Back clicked? Dude I dont think a back is supposed to click…dont be too hard on yourself you wouldnt be you in the gym if you didnt push it, now monitor that shit, its a marathon not a sprint…

Yeah I don’t think my body is meant to tilt to the left when I am standing straight up. I am hoping I just have a tight muscle on the right side of my back that is pulling my left hip back, but I don’t know.

What pisses me off is how preventable it was. I mean, it was a friggin warmup set. The weight got out in front of me and my back rounded, it felt really wrong, but I thought “it’s warmup weight it can’t hurt me”, so I tried to pull anyway. I could have easily dropped it and reset. Dumb dumb dumb.
But, I can still eat and fuck, so it could be worse.
Update: Saw chiro
Edit: She also guessed from how my muscles felt that I am dehydrated, which is weird because in my opinion I drink a fuckton of water. I may actually try to count tomorrow how many ounces I typcally consume because I never count, I just keep my bottle filled at work.
One more thing: She was also surprised I didn’t get anything realigned when I hurt my back squatting a year ago. I am secretly hoping that she does something that the other doc forgot, and it alleviates the low back soreness I’ve had for a while (which I attributed to just having a weak low back in comparison to other muscle groups). This is a pipe dream but would be awesome.

Update: Got my first adjustment. My chiro wants me in there 3x a week for a month, then 2x per week for the next month after that. I forgot to ask her when I could start being active and lifting again, I had too much on my mind, like the fact my spine looks like an “S” when viewed from the FRONT on the x-ray she showed me.
I’ll try to get a copy of the x-ray and upload it for lulz. I am afraid I won’t be able to really lift for a good while but I don’t know for sure yet. I can’t imagine though that it would stop me from benching and doing things with no spinal loading.
Good god I may have to train my legs bodybuilder style, on machines sitting down, no squatting or deadlifting…
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Hopefully not though.
Are you also going to start sitting down while you pee?

I’m glad she didn’t try to categorize you or anything.
3x/week for a month is a lot. I’d really like to see the x-ray if you can get it uploaded.
Regardless, I hope you start feeling better fast. Back pain blows donkey balls.
Might want to look into Sahrmann progression (google that shit) to help too.
I trained today.
I figured with all my years of lifting knowledge I could figure out 4 or 5 exercises that involved no spinal loading. The thing is, my back is aggravated even when I tighten my lower back muscles, regardless of if there’s any stress on my spine. Which means exercises that required upper body tightness were out (that’s why I scrapped most of it halfway through)
I made a pact with myself to shut down any lift as soon as I felt my lower back activating.
A) Floor Press (legs flat, long pause, only exercise that didn’t activate my lower back musculature)
ramped carefully…
bar x 10
95 x 8
135 x 5
175 x 5
185 x 5
205 x 5
225 x 3
Chest-Supported Rows
70 x 8
80 x 8 ← shut it down
Chinups
bw x 3 ← shut it down, stretched out my back when I went from eccentric to concentric, felt real weird
Dips
bw x 10 ← shut it down, same
Curls
70 x 10 ← shut it down
At this point I realized I had to shut down 4 out of 5 exercises and WHY THE HELL AM I TRYING TO TRAIN AROUND A SPINAL INJURY. Left and will actually listen to my doc from here out (she told me not to lift weights and I went straight from her office to the gym).

What do you mean “Start”?
You should talk, you of the 18-week cut. I half expect you to be buying posing trunks soon.

Thanks. I asked for a copy of the xray and should get one on Monday. I googled that at work but didn’t have much time to delve into it or think about it. Not sure I have the lower back flexibility to raise my legs and such (seriously, it hurts to straighten my legs when my torso is bent)

Hey now…when you have kept the Nabisco (maker of Oreo) stock afloat through the recession like I have over the past few years, it takes a while to work that squat muscle off!

How you doing in here?
Back trouble sucks. Let me know if you want a staggering litany of advice from someone who’s done it before.
Don’t think this image will attach, but gonna try. Got the x-ray but having trouble saving it as a pic. They have some funky software it runs on.

“Muscle”. Right.
Sorry, I’m bitter I can’t lift.

Alive. Itching to get back to training but determined not to rush it and fuck myself up even more than I already have.

Appreciate the offer, what happened to you?
I always feel chiro’s try to juice a patient for all their patients worth, 3 times a week is alot! Hope you recover sooner rather than later…

L5/S1 bulged disc. Put enough pressure on my spinal column to give me a drop foot on the left leg. Pressure on the sciatic nerve (NOT fun). Radiating pain, weakness, yadda yadda. Good times ![]()

I am aware of this, however I can visibly see in the mirror that my spine is twisted. The best way to put it is my torso looks like a houseplant that grew towards the sunlight - right at my hips, my torso “shifts sideways” then from about my belly button and higher I am straight up/down again.
If my god damn deductible wasn’t so high I would be going to an orthopedist for a 2nd opinion pronto.

How long it take you to get back to “normal”? It’s been nearly 2 weeks for me and I’m starting to get uber annoyed with this shiz.
