Health Update:

So, I’ve been feeling a bulge in my neck lately. A few times a week it feels like someone suddenly inflated a balloon in the left side of my neck… I felt it with my hand and there is definitely something there that’s not on the right side. Looked up google images of neck structure and it appears to be a bulge right where the left half of my thyroid should be.

Told my mom and she mentioned that my dad had a cold (benign) tumor at my age and had half his thyroid remove (the idiot didn’t know why his own thyroid was removed, couldn’t remember haha). Soooo… I made an appt with an ENT doc for Feb 14. Something near my thyroid is swollen as fuck and let’s hope it’s not a malignant tumor…

Also, (Warning: TMI alert) I made an appt with a uro because I’ve had this weird aching in my balls… I am probably overly sensitive of testicular cancer because of knowing someone who had it, but can’t hurt to have it checked out.

Finally I have an appt with a nephrologist to discuss my blood pressure, but it’s not till the end of March because they are apparently really hard to get an appt with around here. I have been trying the Wendler apple vinegar cure and taking 300mg CoQ10 in the morning for a couple weeks, I’ll take some measurements this week/weekend to see if it’s helped.

Haha, obviously a catch like me can’t be single for long (it was only 3 years!)

I dunno if my energy in general has been better. I’m fine with lifting and playing sports because my adrenaline usually kicks in fine, it’s just the hour-to-hour stuff I can’t do. I constantly want to fall asleep during the afternoon… during meetings at all times… yawn all day, etc.

Thanks! 4 reps represented the minimum I was happy with given the 385x6 I hit last time I DLd. It’s like 3lbs less on the Wendler Formula, but a 5th rep would have been a 10lb PR (the 385x6 was a 5+ lb pr itself so another 10lb PR woulda been cray cray).

Re-read 5/3/1 last night. Amazing how much I forgot. I’m deloading still today, but I am going to take my assistance a bit more seriously (read: plan out 4-week blocks of assistance, do the same exercises each week, and track progress instead of doing whatever I feel like that day).

For the next cycle I’ll be upping OHP/Bench 5lbs and squat 10lbs… and deadlift by 10lbs (eek). Front squatting after back squatting, plus conditioning, kills my quads for days. Instead of repeating the same routing and hoping my body will adapt, I made a change and will FS after deadlifts. Likewise, doing all my hammy/low back work after deadlifting doesn’t seem to work well with my recovery abilities, so I’m moving Good Mornings to squat days. Also in general I don’t need as many exercises. Workouts starting next week will be as follows:

Most assistance is done in the 8-12 rep range

Ab work will still be done by feel since there is no pattern to when they feel fresh and when they are thrashed for a week by 4 measley sets of ab rollouts

Monday
A) OHP (5/3/1)
B) Bentover Rows (5sets)
C1) Dips (5sets)
C2) Chins (5sets)
D) Kroc Rows (1warmup, 1 real set)

Tuesday
A) Back Squat (5/3/1)
B) Leg Press (3-5 sets, start at 3 and see how I recover)
C) Good Morning (gonna see if I like seated GMs, start at 3 sets and work towards 5)
D) Shrugs (3 sets. Haven’t done in forever, remember CT talking about how much they helped his bench)

Thursday
A) Bench (5/3/1)
B1) DB Bench (5 sets)
B2) Lat Pulldowns (5 sets)
C1) Standing EZBar Curls (3-5 sets)
C2) Face Pulls (3-5 sets)

Friday
A) Hang Clean (reps: 5, 4, 3, 2, and maybe a 1)
B) Deadlift (5/3/1)
C) Front Squats (3-5 sets)
D) GHR (3-5 sets, may superset with FS’s)

Conditioning will be rotating Hill Sprints, Prowler, and steady state elliptical done on Tues/Fri/Sun. I have yet to decide whether I want to progress prowler by increasing trips or decreasing rest. I think I’m gonna add 1 trip per week, and once I get to 15, I’ll decrease rest.

That is my plan for this cycle. I will not accept not getting stronger just because I’m losing weight.

God I just SUCK at deloading. Should have gone no more than 135 on Front Squats. Quads were burning on those prowler pushes like all hell.

So I added a 12th trip to get it back to the door. Was moving pretty slowly at that point… way more friction with no snow on the ground.

Like do andersons or/bulgatians or single leg hacks orwhatev just totally different lifts. Well, it helps me. Or I will not lift at all for four or five days but do cardio instead or something. I mean there’s just no way i can folllow the deload weights in my calculator.

I followed the deload weights fine (you don’t think I really squat 185x5 do you?) it’s just that I can’t shake that “since I deloaded my main weight I need to hit PRs in all my assistance and conditioning” mentality which defeats the entire purpose of deloading the main lift.

That’s a good idea though.

Sorry bro, it was a last minute decision and I got there early as hell at like 430, figured you were still at work.
